The Resilient Floor Covering Institute (RFCI) is all about Beautifully Responsible® resilient flooring … and resilient flooring is all about sustainability, durability, affordability, and style. It encompasses a surprisingly wide variety of hard surface flooring products – from vinyl and linoleum to rubber and cork. RFCI is an industry trade association of leading resilient flooring manufacturers and suppliers of raw materials, additives, and sundry flooring products for the North American market. The Institute was established to support the interests of the total resilient floor covering industry – as well as the people and communities that use its products. Resilient Floor Covering Institute membership includes the largest, manufacturers in the resilient flooring industry. All RFCI member companies are known for their innovation, quality, and sustainability initiatives. They’ve joined together through RFCI because they share a genuine commitment to improving our industry and advancing sustainability. We are about helping designers, architects, facilities managers, home owners, and others make wise flooring decisions. Flooring is a part of our everyday life, so it must be trusted for durability and sustainability. Our Goals are the following: GOAL I Promote the resilient flooring industry and product category. GOAL II Position the resilient flooring industry as being environmentally responsible through voluntary product and industry programs that support safe, healthy, and sustainable environments. GOAL III Engage in advocacy with governmental and non-governmental entities regarding initiatives that may positively or negatively impact the resilient flooring industry. GOAL IV Establish and maintain an effective membership development program for Associate and Regular members. Ned Monroe will answer the question "What’s happening in our Nation’s Capital impacting the vinyl industry?" He is the President and CEO of The Vinyl Institute. In this role, Ned advocates for the vinyl industry and leads vinyl resin producers in the United States, helping to create and execute the institute's strategic focus to maximize its impact and value. With over 30 years of experience in Washington, Ned has extensive skills in legislative and regulatory advocacy, communications, and association management. He also serves as the Chairman of the Global Vinyl Council, which includes membership from fourteen national vinyl manufacturing organizations worldwide. Before joining the Vinyl Institute, Ned was Executive Director of Global Public Affairs with SC Johnson Company. He also held senior positions with the National Association of Manufacturers, the National Restaurant Association, and the Associated Builders and Contractors. Ned serves on the Board of Directors of the PVC Pipe Association (PVCPA) Association, the Flexible Vinyl Alliance, the American Chemistry Council Plastic Division, the Vinyl Sustainability Council, and the Council of Manufacturing Associations. Meet Paul Shahriari, Founder and chief Innovation Officer of ecomedes. Paul is an authority on green building and the application of technology in the real estate, design, engineering, and construction industries. He began his career as a sustainability consultant in 2000 and was one of the first people in the US to become a LEED-accredited professional. He also served as a US Green Building Council faculty member for five years. In support of his work with clients, he founded three greentech companies: ecologic3 and ecoScorecard, which were acquired in 2010. In 2016, he launched ecomedes, a data platform that leverages product performance data to simplify green decision-making and purchasing. Ecomedes streamlines the analysis of economic and environmental impacts for anyone looking to make better data-driven decisions. Paul has consulted on over $50 billion of real estate, design, and construction projects. Paul graduated from the University of Florida with a Master of Engineering degree.
