Yes, we said no more chocolates after the Kinder advent calendar last year... but we couldn't resist! 😬 🙈 And let's be honest, what's Christmas if there are no chocolates... 🍫 🎄 So we decided to look inside one of the most eaten chocolate during Christmas season (at least in France) and it's the Ferrero Rocher 🍫 From the hazelnut flakes, the crunchy chocolate, the praline and of course the central nut, we can see everything layer by layer with a CT Scan from the EasyTom S! We can clearly see that the nut it not totaly full, there is a bit of air inside! We used our EasyTom S to scan the pine cone, and we did a global scan followed by a focussed scan in order to get a better view of the life inside it. Can you see the seeds inside ?! A few weeks ago, we installed a new CT Scanner system at Saint-Gobain Research Paris ! This is an EasyTom nano 150 / 160 kV. According to Sophie Brossard the Imaging & Microstructural Analysis Laboratory Manager this new CT system will be used to analyze a variety of construction materials (plaster, mortars, glass wool, foams, glazing, etc.) and high-performance materials (ceramics, abrasives, plastics, composites, etc.) as part of R&D projects to develop new products at SGR Paris, as well as industrial samples (to analyse production defects, for example).
