No início de outubro, nosso Centro de Pesquisa em Aubervilliers Saint-Gobain Research Paris, na França, foi palco de uma visita especial organizada pela AFEAL – Associação Nacional de Fabricantes de Esquadrias de Alumínio. Representantes de destaque do setor de esquadrias no Brasil, junto com parceiros e clientes, tiveram a oportunidade de conhecer nossas mais recentes inovações. Durante o evento, compartilhamos ideias sobre como impulsionar o mercado brasileiro de fachadas com soluções voltadas para a #sustentabilidade, #tecnologia e #desempenho. At the beginning of October, our Research Center Saint-Gobain Research Paris in Aubervilliers, France, hosted a special visit organized by AFEAL – the National Association of Aluminum Frame Manufacturers. Prominent representatives of the Brazilian window and door industry, along with partners and customers, had the opportunity to learn about our latest innovations. During the event, we exchanged ideas on how to drive the Brazilian façade market forward with solutions focused on #sustainability, #technology, and #performance. AIMING HIGHER TOGETHER WITH OUR CUSTOMERS! 🚀 🤝 On October 3rd and 4th, together with Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland we were happy to host a group of UK customers, including architects, designers, and sustainability managers, in Paris.   The first day focused on innovation at Saint-Gobain Research Paris, where guests had the opportunity to visit and exchange ideas with our researchers on various programs. They actively participated in our innovation process by providing us valuable insights to perfect our future products and solutions, addressing the challenges of a changing world.   The second day was at our head office 'Tour Saint-Gobain', starting with the visit of the tower. highlighting many of our solutions in light and sustainable construction. 🏢 🏡 This was followed by presentation of global activities, and innovative solutions that put customers at the heart of our group strategy which was held in "Espace Plein Ciel' with incredible views across sunny Paris. Merci à Antoine Petit et Thierry Dauxois pour l'invitation au séminaire des cadres de direction du CNRS pour présenter la R&D de Saint-Gobain, c'était un beau moment d'échanges autour de la construction durable et des collaborations entre recherche académique et industrie. Le CNRS est un partenaire très précieux de Saint-Gobain pour construire ensemble les connaissances nécessaires pour la décarbonation de la construction et le passage à une économie plus circulaire, en mobilisant beaucoup de disciplines scientifiques: physique, chimie, mécanique, mathématique, et aussi de plus en plus les sciences humaines et sociales.

📽 Introducing the #DrasticProject’s French Demonstrator! 📽 The French Drastic Demonstrator aims to prove the potential for the reusability of interior space plan products, such as ceiling tiles and partition walls, in an office retrofit. The retrofit cycle in Parisian office buildings is, on average, six years, with most ceilings and tiles being landfilled or incinerated for energy recovery at the end of their life. Reusing these internal space plan elements at a large scale could support the necessary decarbonisation of the European built environment and a transition to using more circular practices within the office retrofit sector. Drastic is a pioneering initiative that aims to demonstrate affordability, sustainability and circularity within the built environment via a collection of innovative European pilot projects known as 'Demonstrators’. 𝗔𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗔 𝘁𝗼 𝗭: 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀! With a master's degree in physics and a PhD in building acoustics, Gary Jacqus’s journey at Saint-Gobain started in 2015. He joined Saint-Gobain Research, at the R&D center near Paris, as an acoustic engineer, where he initially focused on the transversal acoustic program, sharing knowledge and promoting new ideas across the organization. He later progressed to his current position, in which he now leads R&D projects in acoustics for the insulation business.💭 𝗧𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘂𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝘆-𝘁𝗼-𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀! “My daily work consists of developing new solutions to improve the acoustic properties of our systems. My role involves a lot of collaboration with colleagues in marketing, R&D, and industrial processes. Together we ensure our innovations not only work well, but also meet market demands and can be produced efficiently. It's a dynamic and rewarding job that combines technical expertise and teamwork.”🤝 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝗯? Bridging the gap between academic literature and practical implementation in our products and processes is never easy, but that’s exactly what makes my job incredibly stimulating. Seeing an idea evolve from a theoretical concept to a concrete, viable application is truly awesome! Now about challenges, the biggest one is innovating while keeping costs and other features unchanged. Defining a clear book of specifications from the beginning helps a lot in this regard. Sometimes, the open-mindedness of R&D clashes with established habits in the construction sector. For example, we have projects focused on reducing the weight of our plasterboard or mineral wool solutions while maintaining their acoustic performance.
