Cycling through a water plant in India 🚴♀️     Located in the capital city of Delhi, the Sonia Vihar plant is one of the largest single-phase water treatment plants in the country, serving around 14% of the population 💦.      Covering a distance of approximately 2 kilometres around the plant, a vehicle was needed to enable the maintenance team to move efficiently from one unit to another, especially in the event of an emergency.     Instead of a motorcycle, it was decided to provide 4 bicycles for the maintenance engineers and security guards to use on their rounds.     This decision has had many benefits:  💪 Better health for the team,  🔇Less noise pollution as no motor vehicles are used,  🌍 Zero fuel consumption, resulting in significant cost savings  ⏱️Quicker Time for the maintenance team to move from one unit to another     A successful initiative by the team, which will now be replicated at similar or larger SUEZ sites across the country 👏 #SUEZCyclingStories

Reducing water losses in Kolkata, India💧 In the Cossipore area, we are working on a programme to reduce water losses and improve the quality of service for 420,000 residents. A look back at #ISWA2024 in Cape Town, South Africa! In September, together with our local joint venture EnviroServ Waste Management (Pty) Ltd, we met with numerous customers and industry peers, to strengthen relationships and explore new opportunities. Our presence in South Africa continues to grow, demonstrating our commitment to driving technological and business innovation in the region and beyond. Harnessing the potential of sewage sludge to generate energy in the Czech Republic 🏭 In partnership with the City of Brno, we have begun construction of the largest sludge treatment line in the Czech Republic at the Brno-Modřice Wastewater Treatment Plant. This plant serves more than 400,000 residents and treats 35 million m3 of wastewater per year. Our innovative approach includes new buildings and technologies for sludge thickening, anaerobic digestion, dewatering and drying. This process will help produce biogas, which will be converted into heat and electricity, covering 65% of the plant's energy needs. In addition, solar panels will be installed to provide 5% of the plant's energy consumption. A new drying process will be used to significantly reduce its volume by up to 60%. The dried sludge will be used to generate energy for cement production by local industries, reducing the number of truck trips needed to transport sludge from the treatment plant by 60%. “SUEZ has been operating in Brno for more than 30 years, and this new project is a testament to the solid partnership we have built with the city. Supporting the sustainable development of Chongqing! As the advocate who introduced the concept of an advisory council to the Chongqing Municipal Government in 2006, SUEZ has been an active and committed participant in the Chongqing Mayor’s International Economic Advisory Council (CMIA) since its creation 18 years ago. Our Chairman and CEO was back in Chongqing to participate in this esteemed gathering, where she met with top Chongqing government officials to share our recommendations on how to take the municipality to the next level of green transformation and leadership. Sabrina Soussan emphasised that green manufacturing is a key game-changer to drive high-value growth. In addition, diversifying the city's business base and attracting investment in high-growth industries such as renewable energy infrastructure are essential to achieving a net-zero economy. Over the past five decades, SUEZ has demonstrated that its industrial cooperation models with Chinese customers have enabled them to make significant progress in energy efficiency and decarbonisation. As a long-term partner of Chongqing, SUEZ is committed to supporting the municipality’s green transformation. In Meknes, Morocco, what used to be a dumpsite on the outskirts of the city has been transformed into a green landfill that produces compost and biogas. Filling the waste management gap in Africa! Africa is the fastest growing region in terms of waste generation. The ISWA2024 congress in Cape Town, South Africa this week is a great platform for us to showcase our solutions and value! Together with partners, customers and experts from our joint venture EnviroServ Waste Management (Pty) Ltd, SUEZ participated as a Platinum Sponsor and had a number of highlights, including: ✅ 12 thematic sessions covering crucial topics across the entire waste value chain and the integration of social and environmental value into waste management solutions. ✅ 2 high-level opening plenaries where Stephane Heddesheimer shared SUEZ's global success stories and effective waste management solutions and Dean Thompson spoke about South Africa's progressive legislation, the critical role of public-private partnerships (PPPs) and the future of waste management. ✅ 2 workshops on energy-from-waste solutions for developing countries and green landfills with partners and customers from other regions. ✅ Numerous interactions with delegations from South Africa and beyond to deepen existing relationships and explore new opportunities with stakeholders from around the world.
