Sports and Your Rights 🆕 Mini-series: Insights into the Safety and Service at Sports Events - Conversations with Experts We are in for an exciting series of 9 interviews with sports safety and service specialists! You will get valuable insights into the concept of safety and service at sports events through the perspectives of experts from diverse fields, including: 👮 police officers, 🦺 stadia safety inspectors and managers, 🏗️ architects and civil servants. The series, conducted as part of the European Union - Council of Europe joint project Balance S4, aims to highlight best practices and share lessons learned, including examples of "near-misses" encountered by these professionals. Featuring 9 episodes, the series begins with Ken Scott MBE FRICS, Head of Inspectorate at the Sports Grounds Safety Authority (SGSA). Ken is the co-author of the Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds (6th Edition), commonly known as the "Green Guide" and published in 2018. Recognised and respected worldwide, this guide is a leading reference on safety standards at sports grounds. In this first episode, Ken Scott MBE FRICS emphasises that “every person who attends a sporting event is entitled to a reasonable level of safety”. He highlights the vital connection between safety and service, stating that it is essential to help people understand that delivering excellent service can significantly enhance safety levels. Ken also draws attention to the power of small gestures such as greeting attendees with a smile and a friendly "hello," particularly for those visiting a sports venue for the first time. Reflecting on past incidents, he remarks that studying the history of disasters around the world, one could often find that a “near-miss” preceded it. His message is clear: “Let’s all be proactive rather than reactive after the event.” 📽️ Watch the 1st episode : https://lnkd.in/eMkB6up4 🦉 For deeper insights: 🔗 Council of Europe Saint-Denis Convention Toolkit on how to organise safer, more secure and more welcoming sports events - https://lnkd.in/eQw7RB98 🔗 European Union - Council of Europe joint project "Balance S4" - https://lnkd.in/eMK6QSKf Delegation of the European Union to the Council of Europe European Commission Sports Grounds Safety Authority University of Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne Executive Master in Global Sport Governance (MESGO) Ken Scott MBE FRICS

🔄 The Register of Damage for Ukraine is actively accepting claims from individuals in Categories A2.1 and A3.1. Category A3.1 (damage or destruction of residential immovable property) is once again open for the submission of claims at the Register, following the conclusion of a short, temporary pause due to a cyberattack on Ukrainian registries. This category is for property owners to submit a claim in relation to a flat or a house in Ukraine that was damaged or destroyed as a result of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Such claims can be submitted to the Register: ▪️ regardless of where the property is located in Ukraine, including the territory under temporary occupation; ▪️ regardless of whether the owner has previously applied to the e-Recovery programme, and even if some compensation was received; ▪️ regardless of whether the title to the property is registered in Ukraine’s State Registry of Immovable Property Rights. Hundreds of thousands of residential properties have been damaged or destroyed by the war. More destruction is caused every day. All these homeowners can now submit claims for compensation to the Register. This resumption comes shortly after the recent launch of Category A2.1 (death of an immediate family member), in which the Register has already received more than 1,000 claims. Under this category, a person may submit a claim for their own mental pain and anguish from the death of an immediate family member due to the invasion. ➡️To prepare and submit claims to the Register: https://lnkd.in/ecP67z3T 🔂 Follow the Register on LinkedIn to stay up to date on developments.

The #Holocaust was one of the reasons why the Council of Europe was set up in 1949. The aim was to give legal force to the sentiment of #NeverAgain, and to ensure that #HumanRights would be respected, o matter what the person’s nationality, ethnicity, race, religion or sexual orientation. 📌 https://lnkd.in/d2Gwza6A

Today and everyday #WeRemember and pay tribute to the victims of the Holocaust. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau in 1945. The Holocaust is the name given to the systematic murder of six million Jews by the Nazi regime and their allies during the Second World War. “Holocaust” is a Greek word meaning “sacrifice by fire”. Jewish people also refer to it as the “Shoah”. For the Nazis, the objective of the so-called “Final Solution” was the killing of all Jews in Europe. While most of the victims died in concentration camps such as Auschwitz-Birkenau, many perished at the hands of mobile death squads and others in ghettos like the one in Warsaw. #HolocaustRemembranceDay #NeverAgain #NeverForget

A somber moment at the Register of Damage Caused by the Aggression of the Russian Federation Against Ukraine (#RD4U): More than 1,000 family members have submitted #claims for the loss of their loved ones due to Russian’ full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The Register opened this category for submission barely a week ago, and the volume of claims already received is a powerful reminder of the urgency of our work. Submitting claims to the Register is a first step in documenting and acknowledging the immense loss and suffering of individuals, providing them with a possible future path to justice and reparation. ➡️ For further information and to submit a claim: https://lnkd.in/gd8JsHRk
