Last weekend, we hosted an exciting family STEM workshop for our colleagues and their children with a special focus on exploring machine learning technology to build smart recycling bin. They used micro:bits, sensors and simple materials to build prototypes of intelligent waste receptacles and worked together to learn the basics of coding and electronics. It was inspiring to see the creativity and problem-solving skills as the families brought their environmentally-friendly ideas to life. The workshop provided a valuable hands-on learning opportunity that nurtures STEM education and sustainable innovation for the next generation. #Deacons #WorkingFamilies #ESG #Environmental #STEM #Innovation #Education #STEMEducation #FamilySTEMWorkshop

Our Construction Consultant Stanley Lo, in his capacity as Vice-Chairperson of Hong Kong Mediation Council, was invited by the Department of Justice (DoJ) to speak in a live broadcast called《深度思维·大湾区法智汇客厅》, co-organised by DoJ and Justice Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality (深圳市司法局), on 16 July 2024. The theme of this 6th episode of the programme was《深港协作 打造全球商事调解优选地》. Stanley along with Mr. Guihe Wen, Vice Chair of Shenzhen Commercial Mediation Association and Secretary General of Shenzhen Qianhai International Commercial Mediation Centre, had an in-depth dialogue on the development of mediation practice in Hong Kong and Shenzhen. They also shared how these two places can work together to make the Greater Bay Area a preferred destination for international commercial mediation. During the discussion, Stanley explained that the main advantage of Hong Kong's mediation service lies in the fact that Hong Kong follows the common law system, which is well aligned with commercial practices in other common law countries. Hong Kong has also established a good and robust regulatory framework, including the Mediation Ordinance, the Hong Kong Mediation Code, the accreditation of mediators under the statutory body of Hong Kong Mediation Accreditation Association Limited, as well as the growing number of mediation service providers. In addition, Hong Kong has a large number of professionals from diverse backgrounds, who are well-versed in international laws and have multilingual abilities, with frequent interactions with the international legal communities and various industries. The programme was produced by Shenzhen Media Group.
