MākuSafe is an innovative, wearable safety device and software platform designed for associates working in warehouses. By collecting real-time data, it detects ergonomic strains, prevents injuries, and addresses hazards. Since its 2022 pilot at the Denver warehouse, the solution has been instrumental in preventing injuries during demanding peak seasons. It has also increased the reporting of near misses by associates and identified air quality issues in warehouses. Swire Pacific released its 2024 interim results today. Swire Coca-Cola made a recurring profit of HK$878 million in the first six months of 2024. Profit increases were seen in Hong Kong, Taiwan and South East Asia, with significant contributions from newly acquired franchise businesses in Thailand and Laos. In May 2024, Swire Coca-Cola broke ground on the Greater Bay Area Intelligent Green Factory in Guangdong. This state-of-the-art facility represents a RMB1.25 billion investment and is set to become Swire Coca-Cola’s largest green, intelligent and diversified plant in the Chinese Mainland. 【𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝】   Cold drink equipment (CDE), including coolers, vending machines and fountain dispensers, is a major focus of our #GHG emissions strategy. These units, critical for chilling our beverages, account for a substantial portion of our energy use, representing 22% of our total emissions in 2023. In Chinese Mainland, we actively engage our suppliers to develop best-in-class technologies, optimise design solutions and implement energy reduction measures. Since January 2023, ALL newly purchased CDE in the Chinese Mainland are highly efficient next generation models, using 50% less energy and exceeding the industry standard. These CDE have also been rolled out in #Vietnam and #Cambodia, achieving an average 20% reduction in energy consumption compared to existing equipment. Looking ahead, we will scale up this solution and replace over a million CDE worldwide. Last September, our Hong Kong team launched Bonaqua mineralised water in Returnable Glass Bottle (RGB) for hotels. The Hong Kong SAR Government’s ban on single-use plastic for certain applications, including free bottled water in the hospitality sector, has accelerated the development and launch of our RGB water. We are proud to be the only beverage company in Hong Kong with an RGB water solution and the first company to receive an exemption from the glass producer responsibility scheme levy thanks to our collection and reuse system. Last year, we used over 18.6 billion litres of water, which serve as the main ingredient in our products, and is used extensively in our manufacturing process and our agricultural supply chains. We not only aim to reduce our water footprint but also collaborate with various governmental and non-governmental partners to protect shared water resources. In 2023, we worked with partners to implement water replenishment projects in Utah, Colorado, and Arizona — facing significant water challenges where we have a direct operational footprint.
