    One question that always comes up when I talk to Founders is what tools do they need to get started with direct sales. The team at ColdIQ is how I keep up to date with the latest and greatest. The newest tool I tried was La Growth Machine. Here's my unbiased review from running my first campaign there. Some things I loved: 1. Running multi-channel campaigns from a single screen instead of orchestrating 2-3 tools. LGM supports Email, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), and Phone (with limitations). 2. Running actions based on logic / dependencies like: - have they accepted my connection request? (more nurturing up next) - have they opened my email but not replied? (channel is working) - have they not opened my email and not replied? (meaning they're not active on that channel or tracking isn't working) 3. top-notch support. Their AI support is pretty good and even when I needed help from a human, I usually got a reply within an hour. Some things I was missing: 1. email warmup to keep deliverability high. It's fine though, got myself an Instantly.ai license for just this and they offer unlimited inbox warmup. 2. A/B testing templates like I do with Apollo.io (although there is a workaround) 3. Inbox rotation so I can reach more people in a given time without risking landing in spam 4. Getting the company URL of the prospect when exporting a Sales Navigator list like I'm used to with HeyReach. In their defense there is a workaround but I'd prefer to have the data right away so I can get on with enriching my contacts on Clay. All-in-all who would I recommend La Growth Machine for and who should avoid it? Avoid if: 1. Pricing is slightly higher compared to most outreach tools out there so if you're price-sensitive and don't mind switching between tools, this is not for you. I'd recommend using a tool like lemlist, or a mix of HeyReach & Apollo 2. If you're still experimenting with what messaging resonates and want to scale experimentation, I'd recommend Apollo or Lemlist. LGM has a workaround for testing messaging but I feel these two tools are cleaner. 3. If you're only using Email and LinkedIn for outreach and prefer fully automated sequences. However: 1. if you already have a messaging that works and want to run campaigns at scale with a demand gen mindset, 2. want your outreach to cover X too, not just LinkedIn, 3. and don't want to switch between tools to send emails and make phone calls Then consider giving LGM a shot. It's a solid alternative all things considered. BONUS: they have some cool templates for campaigns so you can focus on selling. (Instead of having to figure out how many times to reach out and how often) Game time! 1. Can you guess why the LinkedIn connection accept rates were so low for this specific campaign? 😉 2. What about the reason I got so few cold call connects? (hint: I had numbers for 153 contacts out of 206 using Clay & Kaspr) Leave your best guesses in the comments! #techsales #tooling

    Last week trumpet 🎺 raised a $6M seed round and the very next day Nick Telson-Sillett broke the hearts of 200 BDRs who reached out. If you're one of these BDRs, this is how you can stand out next time. There's nothing wrong with trigger-based outbound campaigns. Nick pointed out nicely that just because a Startup received funding doesn't mean they're ready to spend it all on Day 1. However I disagree that you have to wait 2-3 months before you reach out. By that time the action plan might have already been made. It's also 2-3 months you could have spent nurturing your Personas at that Startup so by the time you do reach out, they have a reason to trust you.     When you’re building an amazing product it’s comfortable to choose PLG as your GTM model. But without traffic all you have is a website with a sign up button. Why not extend your PLG motion with direct sales? Especially in the early stages where you have shorter runway and little to no revenue. Food for thought.
