Tentang kami
Sustaining Forgotten Food Biodiversity __________________________________________ Inspired by Indonesia's wealth on food biodiversity, indigenous wisdom, and spiritualism, Javara was founded in 2008. Javara works across the agricultural value chain from production to distribution to keep alive such heritage and bring community-based organic products to the broader market. Javara’s products are biodiversity oriented, signified and differentiated as being origin-specific, artisanal, traceable, ethically traded, incorporating values behind the product, and organically produced. As Indonesia’s leading purveyor of biodiversity food products, to date, Javara works with tens of thousands of farmers, foragers, fishers & artisans across Indonesia from Aceh to Papua. Javara currently holds a portfolio of over 240 organic products that are certified under the EU, US NOP, and JAS standards. Javara has been exporting to over 33 countries on five continents. Its unique positioning in championing fine biodiversity-based food products from rural Indonesia builds the strong branding of Javara's presence both nationally and internationally. Javara has been recognized as the pride of the nation and is often referred to as one of the branding ambassadors of Indonesia. In 2014, Javara was named by Forbes Magazine as one of Indonesia’s 20 Global Rising Stars, the only social enterprise in the class. In the same year, the Government of Indonesia also awarded Javara with Anugerah HKI (Intellectual Property Award) for the category of Brand Owner for its dedication to building the brand of rural/community-based products. In 2016 and 2018, Javara received Government’s Primaniyarta Award in the category of Pioneer of the New Market.

The gastronomy of the Muarajambi National Cultural Heritage Area embodies the culinary and medicinal traditions of eight villages: Danau Lamo, Baru, Muara Jambi, Kemingking Luar, Kemingking Dalam, Teluk Jambu, Dusun Mudo, and Tebat Patah. Encompassing 3,981 hectares in the Maro Sebo and Taman Rajo sub-districts of Muaro Jambi Regency, this area traces its roots back to the 7th to 13th centuries when it was known as Suvarnadvipa, a significant Buddhist educational center linked to Nalanda and Vikramasila Universities in India. The community’s profound knowledge of medicinal and edible plants, rooted in the cikitsa vidya (medicine) tradition, has been carefully preserved and passed down through generations. Appointed by the Directorate General of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Javara collaborates with Seniman Pangan to conduct a cultural gastronomy tourism training program for the indigenous community surrounding the Muarajambi area. This initiative aims to safeguard cultural heritage, stimulate the local economy, and promote sustainable local food biodiversity. Preserving and promoting this gastronomic heritage is essential for honoring the rich tradition of food and medicine derived from the local ecosystem while enhancing community empowerment and tourism opportunities. #Javara #Muarajambi #Svarnadvipa #indigenous #community #local #capacitybuilding https://lnkd.in/gmzFe5VH

Humbled to have NHK WORLD JAPAN deep dive to the journey of Javara Indonesia and my personal journey in reviving Indonesia’s food biodiversity and wisdom of its food culture heritage. The collaborative work that also celebrates the role of smallholder farmers and food artisans, especially among women, youth and indigenous community. https://lnkd.in/gKQiCBvp Thanking Tanizawa Soichiro, Aji Yahuti and Mas Febri for putting their heart and soul in creating this feature, including the patience to find the time between my hectic schedule and travel trips over the period of over 4 months. And again, as it takes the whole village to make the journey still continues through ups and downs, thanking all Javara family for believing in our cause, beyond business as usual. #foodbiodiversity #foodculture #foodsystemchange #naturebasedsolution #sustainablefoodsystem #organic #naturebasedfood #foodartisans
