About us

The Centre for Advanced Photonics and Process Analysis (CAPPA) is at the forefront of photonics research in Ireland. CAPPA is a research centre of Munster Technological University (MTU), conducting both applied and fundamental research on photonics for applications in areas as diverse as telecommunications, medical devices, food and pharmaceutical manufacturing. The CAPPA centre is co-located in both MTU’s Bishopstown campus and in the Tyndall National Institute through the MTU@Tyndall partnership. The activities of CAPPA focus on innovation for industry and advanced research. The CAPPA Technology Gateway is one of a nationwide network of 15 gateways, supported by Enterprise Ireland, whose objective is to deliver technology solutions for Irish industry. The CAPPA Gateway is successfully delivering photonic solutions for industries in the Pharmaceutical, Food & Beverage and Medical Device sectors.
