Congratulations to one of our incredible nurses from our Primary Care Nursing Team, Forget Topa 🌟 He has recently completed his Master’s in Nursing with a specialisation in Wound Management and Tissue Viability from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI)! We are incredibly proud of Forget’s dedication to expanding his expertise, as well as having such a highly qualified professional on our team. Forget’s achievement not only highlights the calibre of our staff but also reinforces our commitment to providing the best possible care for our clients. He explains how this programme will improve his role and have a direct benefit to our clients: “While treating our clients, I noticed that the majority have various complex wounds such as diabetic foot ulcers, abscesses, and venous and arterial leg ulcers, all of which require specialised nursing care. Statistics for our Primary Care Services also demonstrate that wound care comprised over 50% of the reasons for nursing intervention in our long-term and short-term accommodations during the second half of 2023. Currently, we oversee more than 200 clients, over six of the Dublin Simon accommodations. 🏠 Longfields: Supported Temporary Accommodation Service Our 30-bed accommodation unit at Longfields provides short-term accommodation and need-based support for individuals experiencing homelessness. Our incredible staff at Longfields go above and beyond to create a warm, positive environment where every client feels valued and supported, despite their circumstances - from the inspiring artwork that fills the common room to the beautiful flower arrangements that brighten up the whole accommodation. Sheila Langton shares what motivates her to take part in Dublin Simon's Home Run each year 🌟 “When I started running in my mid-fifties and saw that Dublin Simon organised a run, I thought it was a good way of raising funds. The Dublin Simon Home Run has now become a favourite of mine. Every year, I recommend the run to my running group as it’s a lovely run and suitable for all abilities. My main reason for participating in the Home Run is because I believe that homelessness is a bigger issue now than ever before. Nowadays, people with good jobs can no longer afford to buy a home and are having difficulties in affording rent, if they can find a place to rent at all. 🏠 Harcourt Street: Supported Temporary Accommodation Service Our emergency accommodation on Harcourt Street is a low threshold Supported Temporary Accommodation which provides short-term accommodation. The service is open 24/7 and individuals experiencing homelessness can be referred for a night or can stay for up to six months, depending on their requirements. With a total capacity of 30 single men, single women and couples, our emergency accommodation accommodates people who are experiencing homelessness and have complex needs. These needs could include physical health, mental health, addiction issues, social welfare entitlements, life skills, training and employment, and/or relationship breakdowns. The goal of our emergency accommodation on Harcourt Street is to: ✅ Provide quality emergency accommodation ✅ Support people to address the issues that have prevented them accessing or sustaining their own home ✅ Help people to make the transition out of homelessness and towards independent living ✅ Support people to move into their own forever home #DublinSimon #CommunitySupport #EmergencyAccommodation #PhysicalHealth #MentalHealth #AddictionRecovery

In the spirit of the Olympic Games, we are proud to share that one of our Supported Temporary Accommodations, Carman’s Hall, recently held a Sports Day for our clients🏅. Beyond the fun and friendly competition, exercise is not just about physical fitness for our clients – it is a powerful tool for mental wellbeing. Engaging in physical activity provides a sense of accomplishment and progress – a step forward in their journey out of homelessness 💛. We believe in the therapeutic nature of exercise, as it helps to relieve stress, boost mood, and foster a sense of community.
