About us

Ireland has the 3rd highest prevalence per capita globally of FASD in the world. It is estimated that 40,000 people living across Ireland have FASD - most of those are undiagnosed, some are mis-diagnosed with more 'socially acceptable' medical conditions, and very few have a diagnosis. This is because Ireland does not formally recognise FASD, and there is no pathway to diagnosis. FASD is Ireland's most preventable neuro-developmental disability. It is caused by drinking alcohol when pregnant. The advice from the HSE is very clear: "No amount of alcohol is safe to drink when pregnant or when trying to conceive." With the average age of mortality at 31 years, it is reasonable to suggest that FASD is a contributor to Ireland's very high suicide rate amongst young adults. Based in Ennis, County Clare, we provide support and signposting to individuals and families who live with FASD. We deliver workshops and training to parents, carers, schools, higher level education and businesses that want to learn more about living with FASD. We can deliver our workshops online, at your workplace or in our own offices - these are well equipped to provide workshop / training space, as well as break-out rooms and more informal meeting space.
