👋 This Autumn, galvanizing companies across Ireland and the UK will host the Industry Open Day, offering a unique glimpse into the fascinating process of hot dip galvanizing. 📌 On Thursday, September 2️⃣ 6️⃣ th, Galco's Dublin, Cork, and Waterford facilities will open their doors to the public. We invite engineers and architects to join us for free CPD-accredited plant tours and presentations, with certificates awarded to all participants. Galvanized Replica of Tusker Rock Lighthouse 🕯️⚓ Commissioned by Wexford County Council and brought to life by local artist and welder Damian McAleenan, the Tusker Rock Lighthouse replica now graces the Ashfield Cross Roundabout. Hot dip galvanized by Galco Waterford project serves as a poignant reminder of the lives lost in various tragedies linked to the lighthouse. Over the years, numerous lives have been lost in the vicinity of the lighthouse, including 15 construction workers in 1812, a lighthouse keeper in 1941, and 61 people in a plane crash in 1968. - The project was a labour of love, not just for me but for the community it represents - says Damian McAleenan. - The role of hot-dip galvanizing was crucial in ensuring the longevity and durability of the replica. Collaborating with Galco Waterford was a seamless experience; their expertise in galvanizing provided the foundation for a robust structure that could withstand the elements. We've just completed an exciting restoration project at Dublin Port! 🚢🔄 Galco Dublin recently completed a comprehensive restoration project at Dublin Port, which involved the removal and refurbishment of old ladders. This project was carried out on behalf of one of our clients - Murphy. Here's a peek into restoration process: 1️⃣ Removal & Cleaning: We started by thoroughly cleaning the ladders to remove all contaminants. 2️⃣ Acid Stripping: This step removed old paint and rust, ensuring a perfect surface for galvanizing. 3️⃣ Hot-Dip Galvanizing: Dipping the cleaned ladders into a molten zinc bath provided superior corrosion protection and extended their lifespan. 4️⃣ Advanced Coatings: Final protective coatings were applied to enhance durability and resistance against harsh environmental conditions.
