𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 - 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝟏 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐎𝐧 In March 2024, a Youth Advisory Group (YAG) was formed by the Child Poverty and Well-being Programme Office (CPWPO) in the Department of the Taoiseach. The YAG comprised of 15 young people from different backgrounds and experiences, across Ireland. The purpose of the YAG was to influence decision making relating to Child Poverty and Wellbeing for Budget 2025. The process was supported by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration, and Youth. In advance of the inaugural Child Poverty and Well-being Summit in May 2024, Taoiseach Simon Harris consulted with the Youth Advisory Group to hear what issues are important to them, including policy priorities and actions on child poverty and child well-being. Hub na nÓg and the National Participation Office coordinated and facilitated the YAG and consultations. The final video output of their discussion can be viewed below. Following the Summit and the release of Budget 2025, the CPWPO met again with the Youth Advisory Group to provide feedback on their input on Budget 2025 and how their views were used and if something wasn’t possible, the reasons for this. The views of the YAG continue to have influence and ongoing feedback has been provided to them about this. The CPWPO continues to plan further opportunities for children and young people to influence the decisions they make. 🚨 REMINDER: Survey for children and young people on international events! 🚨 Do you work with children and young people aged 8–24 who have attended international events—or have excellent ideas about how to make these spaces truly empowering for them? We are developing guidelines to ensure children feel safe, enjoy participating, and know their views matter when engaging in decision-making at international events. But we cannot do it without your help! ➡️ Encourage the young people you work with to share their input by taking our survey - available in English, French and Spanish: https://lnkd.in/d7CRfexm Who is this for? ✔️ Children and young people aged 8–24 ✔️ Those with experience in international events as children OR ✔️ Those eager to shape how global participation can be more meaningful Thank you for your support in spreading the word! #ChildRights #ChildParticipation #ChildandYouthFriendlyGovernance
