Medieval Gamers Assemble! 🎲🎲 This slate gaming board was found recently at one of our Dublin City Centre excavations. The illustration highlights the concentric squares scratched into the stone to form the layout for the ‘Nine Men’s Morris’ game. Similar boards have been found across medieval Europe and in Ireland at Glendalough (see fourth image from the Heritage Ireland/ OPW education pack). Our incomplete board is similar to the mica schist slate game board found during the 1950s excavation at Temple-na-Skellig at Glendalough (see Heritage Ireland website link). #ninemensmorris #medievalgame #gameboard #boardgame #medievaldublin #medievalarchaeology #medievalireland #games #artefacts #medievalgamers #gamers #gaming More Info: https://lnkd.in/eRrT-het Images by our colleague Ralph Ledwidge.
