We’re delighted to be kicking off the new year launching a series to spotlight the incredible women shaping Ireland’s solar industry, in partnership with Women in Solar Energy (Ireland) - WISE(IR)). First up: Maeve Delargy, Senior Associate at Philip Lee LLP, shares her journey in solar law, the importance of diversity, and the legal shifts helping accelerate solar deployment in Ireland. “𝘋𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘬𝘦𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴. 𝙄𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙙’𝙨 𝙎𝙤𝙡𝙖𝙧 𝙀𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙮 𝙍𝙚𝙫𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣: 𝘼 𝘽𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙝 𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙! The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) Energy in Ireland 2024 report highlights phenomenal progress, with solar PV generation soaring 𝟯𝟯𝟱% in 2023! This growth complements wind energy and reduces our reliance on fossil fuels. Other achievements: ✅ 54,000 home energy upgrades, with €420M in support ✅ €52M invested in EVs and chargers ✅ €62M in grants for 3,500+ businesses ✅ €22M for energy research fostering innovation Despite this progress, 𝟴𝟮.𝟳% of our energy still comes from fossil fuels. To hit our 2030 renewable targets, we need to accelerate solar adoption—especially rooftop installations for homes (𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘢𝘳 𝘗𝘝 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘥) and businesses. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀: 🔸 Two-Way Feed-in Premium tariffs for projects 50kW–6MW. 🔸 Dedicated tariffs for SMEs and Renewable Energy Communities. 🔸 Community Benefit Fund requirements to support local areas.
