  • The UK is ramping up efforts to double onshore wind capacity by 2030, with Labour lifting the ban in England and streamlining planning for faster approvals. This is a game-changer for developers, though some hurdles still remain.   In a recent interview with S&P Global, NTR's Chief Investment Officer Anthony Doherty highlighted the challenges posed by uncertainty around potential market reforms like zonal pricing. He acknowledged the need for more investment into transmission infrastructure but recognised "that can't just happen overnight."   In terms of approach to address the zonal pricing question, his view is that the key to success is balancing consumer affordability, investor confidence and energy transition goals. Pairing bold reforms with practical and investor-conscious solutions will be critical. Progressing the permitting and investment in transmission infrastructure along with long-duration energy storage in constrained regions and enhanced interconnections with Europe to address grid bottlenecks while maintaining market stability is important for investors.   Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eA_AYShj   #OnshoreWind #Renewables #UK
