Congratulations to John Paul Construction, Kennedy Wilson and the wider project team on the completion of The Cornerstone Residential Development, which recently achieved LEED Gold Certification.   This is only the second LEED certification for a Multifamily Midrise building in Ireland and one of a handful of certified schemes across Europe, and follows on from the Well Gold certification recently awarded to Cooper’s Cross, another Kennedy Wilson project.   O’Mahony Pike are committed to working with clients and contractors who prioritise delivering sustainable development in our community. The Cornerstone’s success is a testament to this, and we are delighted with this latest achievement.

A big congratulations to Conor Levingston, graduate technologist in our Dublin office, on receiving the 2024 Technological University Dublin Cygnum Award. The award is based on academic excellence in a timber construction-related project or dissertation and is open to students from Architectural Technology , Sustainable Timber Technology and Structural Engineering. Conor won the award based on the content of his 4th Year Dissertation entitled: ‘What can Ireland learn from other countries to build taller with timber? – A comparative study.’ This study compared three countries and how they each have overcome previous building regulation restrictions to build multi-storey residential buildings using mass timber.

Following years of development, we are delighted to see the residential quarter of our Horgan's Quay masterplan finally come to fruition on site. BAM UK & Ireland and their team are busy on site finishing the transfer structure, getting it ready for the arrival of the precast frame.

We’re looking forward to reading the recently launched “Irish Cities in Crisis”, to which John O’Mahony, James Pike and Colin King have all contributed, and we’re hoping that it will have a positive impact on how we plan and design our cities. As noted by Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI) President, Sean Mahon “Our cities must be treated with imagination and care. A big congratulations to Killian Collins, graduate technologist in our Dublin office. Killian was awarded first place in The Student Award for Excellence in Architectural Technology category at the CIAT awards in London for his thesis project, which developed a design decision support tool to visualize embodied carbon at early design stage.  4 UK based projects and 1 other Irish project also made the shortlist, but the judges were unanimous in their decision, agreeing that “Killian’s report was both an engaging read and addressed a subject that is a real issue for all designers and an important topic for the Architectural Technologist and the broader built environment”.

O’Mahony Pike is really proud to announce that two of our architects have been selected for the RIAI Emerging Architect Award 2024 – Well done to Orla O'Kane , Winner of the Award, and to Cormac Murray, Highly Commended. Orla is a talented designer, and has been the project architect on some of our significant housing projects, including Griffin Point & Firhouse Road, as well as leading the interior architecture on amenity spaces at Woodward Square & Fernbank. Cormac is an accomplished architect a key member of our urban design team, and he is also a published writer, a lecturer in TU Dublin, and an editor at TYPE. Many congratulations to them both!

Following the huge success of Ballymakenny Park development, O’Mahony Pike are excited to see the new Usher’s Mill development recently launch to market and continue to contribute to the growth of Drogheda.   Within these early phases, there is permission for 270no. residential units (150no. houses, 116no. apartments and 4no. duplexes) along with a crèche. A triangular village green is located at the heart of the scheme, affording views south towards key landmarks within Drogheda Town Centre. Bounding the north of the development, an initial portion of a linear park is proposed with a later phase expected to complete this ‘green spine’ which in turn will develop and facilitate attractive looped pedestrian and cycle friendly paths and where possible to improve linkages.
