RKD is proud to be taking part in #RIAISimonOpenDoor, a collaboration between the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI) and the Simon Communities of Ireland. The initiative pairs Registered Architects who volunteer their time and expertise with homeowners who, for a donation of €125, receive an hour-long to discuss building, renovating or retrofitting their home. RIAI Simon Open Door 2025 takes place from 7–13 April, with all funds raised going directly to support the work of the Simon Communities of Ireland. At RKD, we deliver design-led, technically robust architecture that works.
About us
Design that works. At RKD, we deliver design-led, technically robust architecture that works. Our approach is collaborative and gets to the heart of every brief. We meticulously look at things from every angle to understand, in great detail, what each client and project needs to achieve. We pose constructive challenges at every step of the process, from inception to completion, always mindful that these are our clients’ projects, not ours. RKD has been practising for over 100 years. In that time, we’ve established ourselves as one of the most diverse and effective architecture firms in Europe. Design connects and unifies our multi-sector approach spanning healthcare, education, workplace, hospitality, pharmaceutical, mission-critical, and more. Underlining all of this are our specialist services in LEED, BREEAM, WELL, BCAR, and BIM. Design thinking is fundamental to the way we work, informing every aspect of every project, ensuring a fresh approach to problem-solving.

On Friday I had the excitement of accepting a giant cheque on behalf of Women's Aid Ireland. The cheque was presented by Greenscene as part of their Great Christmas Giveaway. Women's Aid Ireland is an amazing charity providing crucial support for survivors of domestic abuse. They campaign for improved legislation and policies to protect survivors and help prevent domestic abuse. They offer life-saving services, including emergency helplines, refuges, and counselling for those escaping or trying to escape domestic abuse.
