Earlier this week, the 15th annual NDC & Kerrygold Quality Milk Awards ceremony was held in Lyrath Estate Hotel, Co. Kilkenny. A total of 11 Irish dairy farming families were recognised for standards of excellence in milk production and sustainable dairying. The initiative, which is jointly delivered by Ornua and our programme partners the National Dairy Council, spotlights the pride, passion and progress of Irish dairy producers, who consistently raise the bar to ensure the milk they produce is world-class. Each year, we get to visit the farms of each of the finalists, getting an up close view of the practices that earn them recognition as leaders by their co-operatives. We also get to meet the people behind the progress. Thank you to all the families for opening up the farms to us. As we approach the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste (IDAFLW), we’re proud to share how we actively address food waste to support communities and contribute to a circular economy. • Since 2016, we’ve been working with FoodCloud in Ireland through our volunteer programme and redistribution activities. • Together, we have redistributed 50.4 tonnes of surplus food—equivalent to 120,024 meals, helping support communities in need. • We also work with FareShare UK and Voedselbanken in the Netherlands, which support charities and food banks, ensuring surplus food reaches the people who need it most. Through our partnerships and collaboration with customers, we are committed to impactful food waste reduction projects that strengthen food security and reduce waste within our value chain.
