Congratulations to Auranta, a biotech company that uses cutting-edge technology to revolutionise the gut health of fish worldwide, and a graduate of NovaUCD, on being named the Bord Iascaigh Mhara - Ireland's Seafood Development Agency Aquatech Business of the Year. The company has developed fish feed products that boost the immunity and gut health of shrimp, salmon and other fish species. "We are delighted to win the BIM Aquatech Business of the Year award. This is the latest step in our journey to become the first-choice functional feed ingredient supplier in the global aquaculture industry," said john cullen, CEO. “Auranta has invested heavily over the last few years to build up our data set in fish and shrimp through the four new peer reviewed scientific papers. We combined this knowledge with the experience gained on the BIM Innovation Studio programme last year and the access to the excellent contacts we have made in the industry to date. “This resulted in significant growth in our business this year which has doubled compared from last year with all the AuraAqua product exported to global locations. We believe that the future of our company lies in our ability to increase the robustness of fish and shrimp being produced under challenging conditions around the world in a safe and sustainable manner. We are part of the blue vision to produce protein in the ocean sustainably.” BIM CEO Caroline Bocquel said, “Auranta is a fantastic example of the excellence, innovation and talent that exists in Ireland’s growing aquatech sector which is worth €226 million." via Business Plus Magazine

Equal1 CEO Jason Lynch is raising a new funding round for his quantum company as the tech is tipped to be the next big thing for industries via Jonathan Keane in The Currency. “In the last two years, we’ve gotten much closer to a commercial product that we’re ready to put out there. It’s still early-stage in terms of enterprise-grade, but it’s a machine that people can use to learn how to do new algorithms and start to use quantum, so I think what you’ve seen in the last two years is there’s a general march towards getting closer to commercial reality,” Lynch said. “We’ll be fundraising here in the next six months to go out for the next phase, and our position, our hypothesis is that when we do that, it will be a much faster and a much more scalable approach. Our whole mantra and thesis is around scalability. We’re going out raising money here basically to show that in the next 12 to 18 months, we can get to this point where it is clear that this is the scalable modality that is going to scale and then we’re working more engineering and scaling this beyond that.” Equal1, a UCD spin-out company, is at the forefront of driving advancements in the field of quantum and shaping the future of computing. The company’s world-class team, with offices at NexusUCD, and in US, Canada, Romania, and the Netherlands, combines quantum expertise with a proven track record of commercialising successful silicon products. Equal1 is supported by funding from Atlantic Bridge, Matterwave Ventures, Enterprise Ireland, European Innovation Council and 808 Ventures. UCD Research TechIreland Knowledge Transfer Ireland (KTI)
