“I made Aliyah from New York City because I had a deep intuitive feeling that a brighter, scarier, and more challenging (in a good way) life was waiting for me on the other side of the decision to take a risk and go for it. I believed that making this move would help me learn and grow into a more empowered and aligned version of myself. Now, I live in Tel Aviv with my husband and our plants, and my life has transformed in ways I never imagined. Since moving to Israel, I have embraced my passion for yoga and have become a yoga instructor. I offer daily group yoga classes, private yoga lessons, corporate yoga and meditation sessions, and host various events. Some upcoming events include a Sunrise Yoga Session in collaboration with Tazuz on July 30th and a Yoga + Breathwork Workshop (Find Your Breath) later that evening. Sign up via the NBN Israel Calendar! Teaching yoga in Tel Aviv, especially at the Marina, has provided me with a sense of slowing down, recalibrating, and connecting with myself and others in a meaningful way. Living in Israel has been the backdrop for seven years of total self-transformation. It has radically changed how I think about myself and those around me, how I approach challenges, and has helped me find my true passion in life. This journey has instilled in me the bravery and confidence to act on my dreams, even when it means taking the less safe path. One memorable moment that encapsulates the unique spirit of Israel was fainting in a Bank Leumi two months after moving here, only to wake up with 30 people hovering over me, shoving chocolate and cookies into my face. The biggest challenge I faced was making it through Course Makim (commanders course) in the army. I had to learn technical artillery lessons in Hebrew quickly and teach them to soldiers within 24 hours, despite barely speaking Hebrew myself. This experience taught me the power of believing in myself, surrendering to the journey, and letting go of caring about seeming “stupid” or less than. It reinforced the idea that the only person who can make me feel inferior is myself. Trusting myself and making decisions that serve me, even when they seem crazy to others, has been key to living a life that feels aligned with who I am and what I want for myself. And yes, I still need to figure out how to convert my driver’s license! Israel has a unique flavor that I love, especially hummus with a huge plate of veggies to dip—no questions asked! The sunshine and the luxury of living walking distance from the ocean are just some of the reasons I moved here, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.” Avigyle Zeitchik #LiveLoveIsrael #Israel #Aliyah #NBNTLV #YogiGyle #Tazuz

"I have always had a passion and strong connection for Israel, for the land I love. I had a dream for many years to live in Tel Aviv, and in July 2019, I made that beautiful dream come true. I moved from London, UK, and now live in the vibrant city of Tel Aviv. In the past two years, I established my business, Tel Aviv Nightlife, working with bars and clubs in the city and running my own events. One of my main events is a monthly singles party that has grown to attract over 400 attendees. The energy and excitement in Tel Aviv's nightlife scene are unmatched, and it's incredibly rewarding to bring people together in such a lively environment. I encourage everyone to follow our page Tel Aviv nightlife and join our upcoming events. Life in Israel has brought me immense happiness and a profound sense of belonging. From the moment I made Aliyah, I knew this was where I was meant to be. I remember sending my mum a message the first morning, expressing my joy. A year later, on my Aliyahversary, I told her I was even happier than on the first day. Despite the challenges, I have never wavered in my commitment to this land. During one such attack, when my neighbor asked if I wanted to return to England, I confidently replied that the adversity only strengthened my resolve to stay and support our country. I am proud of our ancestors and our current soldiers fighting for our homeland. The recent events since October 7th have been incredibly tough, especially with my wife being pregnant at the beginning of the war. The mental strain has been significant, but we hold on to hope for peace and the safe return of the hostages. There are special places in Tel Aviv that offer me peace and tranquility, like the rocks by Gordon Beach. Overlooking the sea, TLV, and all the way to Jaffa, it's a spot where I find serenity. It was especially beautiful during the Corona lockdown when the beach was empty. Natan Hachacham has been my home for nearly five years, and it symbolizes the fulfillment of my Aliyah dreams. In every way, Tel Aviv and Israel feel like home, a place where I belong and where my heart resides." - Ariel Weinstein #LiveLoveIsrael #Israel #Aliyah #TLV #TLVNightlife #NBNTLV

“I made Aliyah from the U.K. and now call Tel Aviv home. Within days of visiting, I knew I wanted to move here. There is something magical about the community, the vibe, the weather, the food, the cafes, bars, restaurants, the nightlife, the people. I feel totally at home here. I’m self-employed as a personal branding and business strategist. I work with disruptive, outspoken and bold brands to help them create a powerful unique selling point for their services, so they can truly stand out in an increasingly saturated market, differentiate themselves from competitors and win more business from clients who want to work with them. I offer a whole range of different offers from 90 minute strategy intensive up to monthly retainers. Everything is targeted and specific to the client’s individual needs and goals. The weather in TLV makes me so happy. I’ve found an incredible community here; something I never had or felt connected to in the UK. The togetherness & unity people have here is really special and magical. It makes me feel like I’m part of something. I want to explore even more parts of the country that I haven’t seen yet. Israel has so much variety and so many amazing things to explore. I’ve been to quite a lot of places outside of Tel Aviv but there are still many other places on my hitlist that I want to explore. Thankfully, I adapt easily. People told me that navigating bureaucracy here is difficult but I’ve had pretty pleasant experiences - you have to have Chutzpah here and be prepared to fight for yourself. I came speaking very little Hebrew so that could be perceived as a challenge, but most people speak a pretty good level of English here. When the war started, I was actually in NYC. I was only meant to be away for 2 weeks but ended up flying back to the UK and staying there for 5 months. I flew back to TLV in February and since being back, I’ve felt even more connected to Israel and the people here. It’s really solidified that this is home for me. After 5 months away from Israel, and realizing ‘these are my people’. That was the first time when I truly thought ‘I see a long-term future here’." - Grace Lancer 🦄 #LiveLoveIsrael #TLV

"Living in Tel Aviv, I considered myself just 'Jew-ish' until events like October 7 and the recent Iranian attack reshaped my perspective. No longer can I be just casually Jewish; the situation demands active engagement with my heritage and outspokenness against antisemitism. This shift in mindset has been profound among many Olim who, like me, had previously kept a mental 'backup plan.' However, the recent conflicts have eliminated any thoughts of leaving. We're committed to defending Israel, excelling in our careers, and integrating fully into its societal fabric. Our decision to stay is a testament to our deep connection to Israel, contrasting sharply with the views of our families abroad who don't understand why we haven't returned 'home.' But the truth is, Israel has become our home. This commitment extends beyond just living here; it involves showing up every day to support a country that has become a part of our identity. For those considering Aliyah during these turbulent times, building a robust community is crucial. This involves not only connecting with other immigrants but also forging lasting relationships with locals. Establishing a meaningful career, especially in the high-tech industry, is equally important. Israel offers immense opportunities to work with internationals and locals alike, providing a vibrant professional environment. Exploring Israel, embracing its culture, history, and culinary delights, and engaging in difficult but necessary conversations about politics, religion, and the ongoing conflict are essential. These activities will enrich your understanding of the country and deepen your connection to it. After nine years here, I have transitioned to someone deeply rooted in this land. I now proudly live as an Israeli-American, reflecting on my journey with immense pride and recognizing that moving here was the right decision. For those contemplating making this move, remember that living here means embracing both the struggles and the triumphs. You can thrive in this dynamic, historic land, just as I have." - Lauren Gumport Text adapted from article originally published at ynet. See comments for link!
