Some visualizations for an upcoming design project for a primary school. Each learning space is organized around an outdoor court which enables the extension of the indoor space into the outdoors either for additional activities or to accommodate more students at a time within the same space. Each of the classrooms which are occupied through most part of the day is climatically oriented and houses a tree in the outdoor court making spaces comfortable to inhabit through the year through passive ventilation. The entire feel is organic with natural light washing the exposed walls and ceilings with a play of light and shadows. The spaces are further held together with a strong design language of exposed concrete, brick, Pigmented Walls. The openings are designed to help kids feel connected to both inside and outside of the building. #learningspaces #architecture tulna patel Toyam Patel Dilip Patel

About us
AAKRUTI, established in 1980, strives to design functionally and economically efficient spaces with good aesthetic values. At aakruti, there has been a constant effort to achieve the ‘form-ness’ of the ‘built-form’ validating the ‘idea’, the ‘idea’ being a response to the needs and requirements generated out of social, economical and environmental concerns. In the ensuing years, the company got involved into designing many different types of large and complex Architectural as well as Interior Design projects of varied scales. Fusing vernacular design knowledge with contemporary methods is also one of Aakruti’s convictions. Local problems are often resolved with local / traditional solutions in an innovative and experimental way

The EVER CHANGING SOCIAL SPACES The design of social spaces for Universities (Ahmedabad University) has undergone an evolution. Once an intentional space for a large gathering or a designated recreation space have now become an extension of a traditional classroom. They are a necessary relief facilitating collaborative learning, amidst the norms of classroom teaching Image 1-3: SAS takes a distinct approach with a porous ground floor designed as a large social space. Large sliding doors in classrooms open to informal landscapes, enabling a dynamic and interconnected learning environs. Additional consideration is made to provide informal spaces for teachers as well. LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS: LIBRARIES The library at School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) spans across three levels. At the core of it is a distinct ‘bookshelves insert’ in White Corian, with sub-space for reading nooks. The lower level is an informal space with co-working desks, while mezzanine is a reading space. The bookshelves insert with the adjacent staircase makes a layered composition that connects volumes across different levels. __ Swipe to see the Layout __ Photography: vinay panjwani #InstitutionInteriors #InteriorDesign #EducationalSpaces #ArchitecturalDesign #InstitutionalStyle #InteriorInspiration #FunctionalDesign #WorkspaceAesthetics #ProfessionalInteriors #DesignForLearning #CreativeSpaces #InstitutionalDecor #InteriorIdeas #architecturedaily #LearningSpaces #FutureOfEducation #DesignForGrowth #archdaily #aakrutiarchitects Dilip Patel tulna patel Toyam Patel

THE NEW CLASSROOM Amrut Mody School of Management, Ahmedabad (AMSOM) Amrut Mody School of Management, previously the building used as LD Arts College at Ahmedabad University (Ahmedabad University) -- 33,550 sq. ft. -- Nested in lush landscapes, a 1920s LD Arts College building, now a school of management, underwent meticulous restoration in collaboration with RMA (RMA Architects). Preserving key features like the roof, wooden beams, trusses, and doors, the design seamlessly blends heritage and modern elements. As the notion of the classroom has both expanded and evolved; virtual space has taken its place alongside physical space. Embracing the current technology advancements, our design prioritizes the seamless integration of audio, visual, and surveillance facilities, along with a thoughtful incorporation of power supply at various levels. Materials, featuring teak wood as the main element, complemented by neutral tones and wooden grains, contribute to a harmonious aesthetic. Robust details and materials ensure longevity, ease of operation, and optimal acoustics in this reimagined educational space. -- Photography – The Space Tracing Company -- Toyam Patel tulna patel Dilip Patel #InstitutionInteriors #InteriorDesign #EducationalSpaces #OfficeInteriors #CommercialDesign #CorporateInteriors #ModernWorkspace #ArchitecturalDesign #InstitutionalStyle #InteriorInspiration #FunctionalDesign #WorkspaceAesthetics #ProfessionalInteriors #WorkplaceDesign #DesignForLearning #CreativeSpaces #InstitutionalDecor #OfficeStyle #InteriorsForSuccess #ElegantWorkspaces #InteriorIdeas

G E N E Z E N Institute of Pharmacy Delol, Godhra -- 60,700 sq ft -- Ongoing (Under Construction) This project is a greenfield development of a pharmacy college in Delol, a village southeast of Ahmedabad. For a site that slopes down 6 ft from the access road, we proposed a cascading building that terminates in a kund, a rainwater collection tank at the lowest point, thus making the best of the natural gradient. The built unit is a 'L' form that makes a stepped courtyard, the longer arm housing the laboratory spaces and the shorter one housing the administrative spaces on the ground floor. Each space spills onto the verandah passage overlooking the central stepped courtyard. The amphitheatre is integrated into the natural slope gradient, thus disappearing into the sunk leading to the kund. The Animal House/ Museum and Canteen are independent structures sprouting from the main unit. The library is the farthest corner of the academic ‘arm’ overlooking the kund, offering a quiet location. Delol is known for its quarried stone, which led the decision to showcase the local craftsmanship in form of rubble masonry for the ground floor. To offset the heaviness of the stone rubble, the upper floor is a plastered volume with the service ducts seamlessly embedded within the masonry walls. To manage the harsh light and dry weather in the region, some design solutions are incorporated: - The openings on the exposed, west façade screened by kota stone and brick fins that block out the harsh light - Bamboo screens in the verandah, to cut out the glare from the courtyard - Trees in the central courtyard to strategically shade the open expanse and create pause points for interaction for students Team – Dilip Patel, Dhairya Patel Graphics – Akhil Kachhiya, Khadheeja Shareef Toyam Patel tulna patel

Recognizing the pivotal importance of the "Just Transition" paradigm, now echoing globally in the context of the shift towards a net-zero future, the Arun Duggal Centre for ESG Research (CESGR) @ IIMA hosted a delegation of senior policymakers from Jharkhand and Karnataka led by UNDP in India at the IIMA campus for an informative session on the "Just Transition Policy" on December 18-19, 2023. The inaugural session, held this morning, saw the august presence of Professor Bharat Bhasker, Director, IIMA; Shri Ajay Kumar Rastogi, Chairperson, Task Force, Sustainable Just Transition & Green Hydrogen Mission, Jharkhand; Mr Dilip Singh, National Project Manager (Climate Change), UNDP; and Professor Anish Sugathan, Co-Chair, CESGR. Covering topics ranging from energy efficiency to the formulation of environmentally-friendly policies and the crucial role of innovation and research, the concept of Just Transition emerges as a catalyst not only for advancing climate action but also for making strides in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (#SDGs). The two-day-long event aims to delve into the nuances of the "Just Transition Policy," exploring how it can shape a fair and resilient future. #IIMACESGR #CESGR #UNDP #JustTransition #SustainableDevelopment #ESGResearch #GlobalGoals #NetZero #ClimateAction #SustainableDevelopmentGoals
