Tell me, I will forget. Show me, I may remember. Involve me, I will understand. – Confucius Learning by doing is the key to mastering skills. Through simulation-based training, healthcare providers don’t just observe—they actively engage in real-life scenarios, refining their skills, attitudes, and decision-making. It helps you: 🔹 Experience hands-on learning 🔹 Make and learn from mistakes in a safe space 🔹 Enhance skills to provide compassionate, evidence-based care By immersing professionals in realistic maternity care situations, we ensure that values like respect, dignity, and empathy are at the heart of every birth. What a remarkable experience at IPHACON 2025, Belagavi! We were thrilled to host a stall and panel discussion on how professional midwifery can help achieve SDG 3. Our stall saw insightful discussions and debates on the various components of Respectful Maternity Care, participants thinking hard on unscrambling words related to maternity care, and enthusiastic discussions while untangling the myths and facts on Respectful Maternity Care (RMC). The panel, curated by Aastrika Foundation, was moderated by Ms Lakshmi Viswanatha - Manager of Maternal Health Initiatives at our organisation. The panel included an International Midwifery Educator, a National Midwifery Educator, and a trainee Nurse Practitioner in Midwifery - all from the state of Karnataka. Our panellists, Ms Sarah Coxon, Ms Manjula Solapuri, and Ms Jayanthi Gopal, shared key insights on: 🔹 How midwifery-led care is reducing maternal mortality 🔹 The transformative impact of the Nurse Practitioner in Midwifery (NPM) program 🔹 The importance of Respectful Maternity Care (RMC) in strengthening health systems The future of maternal healthcare in India is being shaped by midwifery, and we’re proud to be part of this movement. Here’s to more conversations that drive change! #IPHACON2025 #MidwiferyCare #HealthForAll #RespectfulMaternityCare #EmpoweredBirth #SDG3 #StrengtheningHealthSystems #AastrikaFoundation #MaternalHealth #PublicHealth #WomenSupportingWomen #MidwivesMatter #FutureOfHealthcare #HealthcareInnovation #QualityCareMatters

At its core, respect is dignity, choice, and accountability. Respectful Maternity Care (RMC) transforms these principles into action, ensuring women are treated with compassion and respect during pregnancy, labour, and childbirth. Here’s what respect looks like - ● Dignity: Treating every mother as an equal, free from bias. ● Informed Consent: Empowering women to make their own care decisions. ● Privacy: Safeguarding personal space and information. ● Freedom from Harm: Protecting mothers from abuse or neglect. ● Supportive Care: Providing emotional and physical support. ● Accountability: Holding systems and providers responsible. At Aastrika Foundation, we’re committed to making the concept of respect tangible, actionable, and universal in maternity care. Respect is not an abstract value—it’s a right that should be honoured at every step of the birthing journey. Every newborn deserves a fighting chance. India has made remarkable progress in reducing neonatal mortality, dropping from 38 deaths per 1,000 live births in 2000 to 18.1 today. But the journey isn’t over. The SDG goal is 12 per 1,000 live births by 2030 — and we must continue to push forward. With equitable healthcare access, trained professionals, and policy action, we can get there and ensure every life counts. #NeonatalCare #SavingNewbornLives #HealthForAll #MidwiferyCare #MaternalHealth #RespectfulMaternityCare #HealthcareForEveryChild #SDG3 #BirthWithoutFear #QualityCareMatters #PublicHealth #AastrikaFoundation #StrengtheningHealthSystems #CompassionInCare #EveryBabyMatters
