After a three-month sabbatical, one of our colleagues is back at Euromonitor International, reflecting on the importance of work-life balance and our commitment to corporate social responsibility. Through our partnership with World Bicycle Relief (WBR), they had the chance to make a real difference during their time off. World Bicycle Relief transforms lives by empowering young girls to access education, enabling healthcare workers to reach more patients, and supporting smallholder farmers and entrepreneurs—all through the power of bicycles. After a three-month sabbatical, I'm finally back to work at Euromonitor International. Reflecting on my time off, I feel lucky to work for a company that truly values work-life balance AND dedicates significant resources to worthy CSR initiatives. That's because as part of my sabbatical, I got to spend time working with one of Euromonitor's headline charity partners, World Bicycle Relief (WBR). WBR is changing lives through the power of the bicycle by empowering young girls to get to school more easily, enabling healthcare workers to reach more patients, and supporting business growth for smallholder farmers and entrepreneurs. During my time with them, I helped WBR with research on foundation and grant leads, and leveraged Euromonitor data and desk research to provide strategic recommendations on industries and companies to prioritize for corporate funding engagement, as well as ideas on how to best partner in different sectors. The sabbatical gave me some much needed time to unplug and recharge, and also left me feeling fulfilled. I’m so thankful to have had the opportunity to work with such an amazing team of bright, passionate, and welcoming people at WBR, and I’m hopeful that the work I’ve done will eventually lead to at least one new partner for them.
