(NFHS-5) 🔴The Government of India (GoI) has long been aware of the challenge posed by anemia and has implemented various initiatives over the years such as Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) and Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA). ⚫Why is this important? Extended close contact with respiratory droplets, including during sexual activity. Contact with clothes, sheets, or other materials that have touched rashes or body fluids. Animal bites or scratches. Products, such as skins or furs, made of infected animals.   🔴𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐜𝐜𝐮𝐫?  It was observed that mpox infection typically develops 5–20 days after exposure.   🔴𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐯𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞?  Yes, there are two vaccines for #Mpox: JYNNEOS and ACAM2000. These are recommended by WHO experts.   🔴𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐯𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚?  No, the vaccine is not available in India currently.    🔴𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐠𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐝 𝐚 𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤?  India is currently at high risk for Mpox, with Delhi and Hyderabad identified as the most vulnerable. On 17 August 2024, Union Health Minister JP Nadda chaired a meeting where it was decided to implement precautionary measures. On 18 August 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Principal Secretary PK Mishra chaired a high-level meeting to review preparedness and enhance surveillance for early detection. The government of India is sensitising health units at airports, seaports, and ground crossings. 32 testing laboratories are ready, especially for mpox. Health facilities are prepared for case detection, isolation, and management.  Currently, there are no reported cases of mpox in India. 🔴𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐱 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐚 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝?   Chronic inflammation: Infections like Mpox can cause chronic inflammation, disrupting iron balance and RBC production. This may lead to anemia, especially in those with weakened immune systems.   Direct viral effects: The monkeypox virus may directly affect bone marrow function. This can reduce erythropoiesis, leading to lower RBC production and potentially causing anemia.   Nutritional deficiencies: Severe infections often cause changes in appetite and how the body absorbs nutrients, leading to iron deficiency. This can make anemia worse.   Increased morbidity: Anemia can make infections more likely and hinder recovery from diseases like Mpox #EzeRx #EzeCheck #Mpox #emergency
