🌱 Sarojini Mohanta: A Daily Wager Who Spent 2 Years Transforming Barren Land into a Thriving Forest 🌳 Sarojini Mohanta, a daily wage worker from Odisha’s Bonai Forest Division, has shown the world that dedication and perseverance can achieve wonders. Earning just Rs 315 per day, Sarojini took on a 4.7-acre patch of barren land and transformed it into a lush green sanctuary, now known as ‘Sarojini Vana’. Over the last two years, she planted and cared for 3,000 native trees, including amla, mango, jackfruit, phasi, and guava. Despite the challenges posed by Murum soil and local resistance, her unwavering efforts ensured a 95-99% survival rate for the saplings. Sarojini treated each sapling with utmost care, from soil treatment and watering to night patrolling to ward off cattle and prevent theft. 🌱💧 Her dedication didn’t go unnoticed. In recognition of her incredible efforts, forest officials named the forest after her.
