National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) is an autonomous institution of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India. A dynamic institute dedicated to pioneering advancements in solar energy. The mandate of NISE is to drive the nation towards self-reliance in renewable power generation while navigating the challenges inherent in the implementation of the Green Energy Transition in the country. At NISE, we are committed to fostering innovation, research, and development in the area of solar energy technologies, driving India towards a sustainable and renewable energy future. Within our campus, you’ll find solar PV module state-of-the-art testing labs (both indoor and outdoor), solar cell characterization lab, solar radiometer calibration lab, solar radiation resource assessment station, solar thermal testing and product development lab, System lab (covering inverters, batteries, lightning, and solar pumping), and even a cutting-edge computational and analytics lab. But we’re not just about elegant equipment-we’re about making a tangible impact. Through our implementation of major schemes and programs of MNRE, including ALMM, PLI, Suryamitra Skill Development Program, and Varunmitra Skill Development Program, we empower individuals and organizations to harness the full potential of solar energy. Our skill development activities cater to both national and international aspirants, nurturing the next generation of solar leaders.   • National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) is honored to have participated in the India-Bhutan Renewable Energy Roundtable held on 28 October 2024 in Thimphu, Bhutan. Organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry in collaboration with the Druk Green Power Corporation Limited (DGPC), and supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, this event fostered deeper cooperation on the theme of “Securing Sustainable Future: India-Bhutan Renewable Energy Partnership.” The Roundtable welcomed over 60 participants, including government representatives, regulators, financial institutions, and industry leaders from both nations, creating an invaluable platform for discussing collaborative pathways in renewable energy. The discussions focused on leveraging both countries' strengths in clean energy, especially in hydropower, solar, and green hydrogen. NISE's Director General, Dr. Mohammad Rihan, contributed insights during a panel discussion on the renewable energy landscape, emphasizing solar energy's role in the diversification and decentralization of Bhutan’s electricity sector. Dr. Rihan shared the impactful efforts led by NISE in capacity building, the deployment of decentralized solar solutions, and innovative solar technologies—all of which sparked strong interest among attendees. He also engaged in bilateral dialogues, reaffirming the commitment to enhance India-Bhutan collaboration in renewable energy. Distinguished leaders such as Lyonpo Gem Tshering, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Royal Government of Bhutan; Shri Prashant Singh, Secretary, MNRE; and Shri Sudhakar Dalela, Ambassador of India to Bhutan, emphasized the significance of this partnership and the growing potential for joint energy projects.   • 🌞 NISE Partners with UNICEF India for Solarizing Public Health Facilities in Uttar Pradesh! 🌞 National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) and UNICEF India are working together to power public health care facilities with clean, sustainable solar energy! The state of Uttar Pradesh has already taken the lead, solarizing over 70 public health care facilities across the state. At a state-level workshop organized by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in Lucknow, Dr Mohammad Rihan, DG NISE inaugurated the event and addressed health care professionals, emphasizing the importance of resilience and carbon mitigation in health care infrastructure. The tireless efforts of NISE and UPNEDA were acknowledged for their role in bringing sustainable energy solutions to these critical facilities. The Directorate of Health, Uttar Pradesh, extended its gratitude to DG NISE for his keynote address and NISE’s active participation in this impactful social mission. Additionally, NISE experts Dr. Nikhil P G and Mr. Rahul Pachauri conducted a technical session, guiding district-level health professionals on the procedures and strategies for solarizing health facilities.
