Pratham has partnered with the Samagra Shiksha State Implementation Society and SCERT, Government of Andhra Pradesh, as part of SALT (Supporting Andhra's Learning Transformation) to enhance foundational learning across the state through Anganwadis and Grades 1 & 2. Our efforts include reviewing curriculum and teaching-learning materials, creating age-appropriate children’s assessments, building hybrid capacity-building courses for Anganwadi workers and primary school teachers over three years with a strong component of in-person training, and establishing model foundational schools and monitoring systems to track progress. Recently, in the face-to-face six-day residential training for teachers that began on 21st October, the State Project Director, Sri B. Srinivasa Rao, IAS, launched the Year 1 Course Modules for Grades 1 & 2 teachers. . . . #SamagraShikshaAndhraPradesh #prathameducationfoundation #learning

In keeping with its legacy of leadership in management education, IIM Bangalore celebrated 51 years by welcoming Dr. Rukmini Banerji, CEO, Pratham Education Foundation, for an illuminating 51st Foundation Day lecture. “It is about reading, and it is about arithmetic, but it is about so much more—it’s about the basic dignity of the child and about their own self-perception of who they are”—said Dr. Rukmini Banerji. Her lecture on, ‘Opportunities & Challenges for Education in Today’s India’ observed emerging trends in basic and primary level education among children across the nation. It wasn’t long ago that education was largely inaccessible for certain demographics in India—especially girls, she remarked. Today, however, the tide has turned, and the numbers, which see school enrollment at an all-time high, tell a powerful story. “This is no minor feat”, Dr. Banerji further shared, crediting this shift not only to policy frameworks but to a broader “joint compact,” an alliance between families, communities, schools, and the state, creating real, lasting change. Col. (Retd.) SD Aravendan, Chief Administrative Officer, introduced and welcomed the dignitaries— IIMB Director Prof. Rishikesha Krishnan and Malavika R Harita, Member, BoG, IIMB, onto the dais. #IIMB #FoundationDay #51YearsOfIIMB

  • At Pratham's learning camps, various play-based activities are used to build foundational skills among children. One such activity is 'Sankhya Chakra' or 'Number Circle', which teaches place value using pebbles. Each circle represents a place value—ones, tens, hundreds and thousands. Children throw pebbles into these circles, then collect and count them, learning how different components combine to form a whole number. This hands-on approach helps children grasp number concepts intuitively, boosting their confidence as they engage with math in a fun, interactive way!
