Do you believe that individual growth and organisational development are deeply interconnected and that this relationship is key to shaping an organisation’s culture?   Well, Pravah's programme Saanstha explores this space by bringing together 13 grassroots organisations working across diverse fields such as education, climate change, gender, youth leadership, rights and equality, women’s rights, and justice.   Pravah recently concluded its Saanstha Mid-Project Review in September 2024. The workshop was designed to explore the interconnectedness between the personal development of organisational founders and leaders and the growth of their organisations. It aimed to empower leaders to cultivate the leadership skills of their leadership team, create a culture of shared leadership, and enhance both individual and organisational performance. Additionally, the workshop equipped participants with tools and strategies to drive their organisations' growth and impact in the future. It was truly inspiring to witness organisations such as Mount Valley Development Association, SauraMandala Foundation | Centre for Accelerated Development Under the Mango Tree, Jatan Sansthan, Prabha Vilas Work for Equality, SwaTaleem Foundation, @Humanity the Ultimate Faith, Slum Soccer, Mahila Jan Adhikar Samiti, Ajmer, Yeh Ek Soch Foundation, Muskan Foundation, and JAGO FOUNDATION take ownership of the process of self-discovery and recognise the common threads that connect personal growth with the broader mission of their organisations. Stay tuned for updates as we embark on the next cycle of #Saanstha2025! #organisationaldevelopment #Secondlineleader #sharedleadership #Saanstha2024    A.T.E. I have grown significantly, both personally and professionally, thanks to the opportunities for learning that are co-created here. What stands out the most to me is the culture here. Pravah truly walks the talk  when it comes to nurturing growth and fostering leadership. At Pravah, you matter. Your growth matters.  Pravah has existing structures and mechanisms well in place that create this magical space where individual and collective growth can flourish together. I have learnt that leadership is a journey, not a destination. It begins with an individual. I consider myself fortunate to be a part of a place where my values align and where an individual is seen and heard.” Bhavi Barad, Program Coordinator, Partnerships and Fundraising #PeopleofPravah #hiringnow #gptw2024 #GreatPlaceToWork

“A Peaceful Future For All.” Can we truly imagine a peaceful future without young people sharing a seat at the table? Can we actualise our dream of a sustainable world without our youth as equal partners leading the way? Another powerful day at the #SummitoftheFuture Action Days, where I attended a session focused on 'Intergenerational Dialogue for Peace.' The dialogue highlighted the critical importance of youth representing themselves and creating a room for dialogue. To lead is to listen. If youth are raising voices, are we truly listening, is there space for questions, sharing of experiences and empathy?   I firmly believe in what Pa Bakary Sonko, Founder of Peace Hub The Gambia, emphasised during the panel - young people need to feel empowered to not only sit at the table but also understand how impactful their sitting at the table is. A critical question that I was left with to explore more is, have we deliberated enough about the outcomes of #youthparticipation in processes? We at Pravah share this belief that #YouthLead and there need to be healthy spaces for intergenerational dialogue to truly build meaningful youth participation.  Our #YouthAdvisoryBoard capacity-building program is a step in this direction, ensuring that young people are not only part of decision-making processes but are also equipped to make their presence impactful. We are humbled to share that Pravah has not only nurtured Young Advisory members for like-minded partners but is nurturing youth changemakers to input and make Pravah’s work as a youth development organization – more and more informed with the dynamic realities of the young people of today! Going forward, we need more dialogue on the outcomes of youth participation in decision-making processes to build a stronger case for the same. If you have thoughts on this, please do comment below, I’d love to hear any ideas on this! #YouthLeadership #YouthVoices #IntergenerationalDialogue #PeaceBuilding #YouthRepresentation #SoTF

However, my experience at Pravah has been quite different. Here, I received feedback encouraging me to take risks and push beyond my comfort zone. I was reassured that making mistakes is a natural part of growth and that trusting myself was crucial to learning from them. Instead of fearing failure, I was told it was an opportunity to become stronger and wiser. This sense of trust and belief in my potential gave me the confidence to embrace my imperfections and work towards both personal and professional development. At Pravah, I truly learned to accept and embrace myself fully.” Chinmayee Oruganti, Sr. Associate Coordinator National Youth and Adolescent Interventions #PeopleofPravah #hiringnow #gptw2023 #greatplacetowork

Over this weekend in Delhi, the Pravah team celebrated Jashn-e-Agaaz, our annual celebration of youth leadership, to bring out youth voices and needs through intergenerational and multi-stakeholder dialogues. This event is an experience we are committed to creating every year to celebrate #YouthLeadership.  As the regional dialogue unfolded, I was thrilled, and deeply inspired to witness young leaders actively shaping the global dialogues and discourse taking place at the Summit of The Future #ActionDays in New York. It has been a humbling experience to hear the United Nations Secretary General António Guterres and UNDP Youth Champion Sanjana Sanghi mirror the same sentiments. Addressing the UN Charter that mentions the UN to be a collective of global citizens, the UN Secretary General António Guterres said, “As the central aspect of the Summit of the Future and central aspect of the reforms is how can we, the civil societies, cities, and the local authorities guarantee that young people participate in the different processes of decision making everywhere.”  Sanjana Sanghi’s plea as the young champion representing the youth across the world touched my heart, she said “All we ask is for our voices to be heard because #WeMatter, and our voice matters. All we ask is to be given the opportunity to be the change that we wish to see in this world.” It is deeply moving to witness the newer avenues open at the multi-national level for #Youth to #Lead and forefront the discourse as leaders of today and tomorrow. Here’s to continuing to give momentum to the movement of investing in young people’s meaningful participation and unleashing their leadership potential—because they matter! For youth voices to be heard and for #YouthLead, let’s partner together and ensure their representation at every level, from the most regional spaces to the international forums.  #Partnerships #UNGA2024 #Leadership #SDGs #JAG2024

#YouthVoices // Jashn-e-Agaaz 2024 Sharing our insights from one of our Youth Addas for Jashn-e-Agaaz at Pravah. A truly valuable experience, offering deep insights into the needs and aspirations of young people. These weekly meetings, leading up to Jashn-e-Agaaz, are more than just gatherings—they're spaces of interaction, dynamic ideas, and collaborative learning. One of the highlights was an activity that explored the push and pull of asserting and fulfilling needs, which promoted critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Discussions around family dynamics, electoral tactics, and politics brought these ideas to life, making them more impactful. The "Circle of Concerns" activity was particularly eye-opening. By mapping out individual and societal concerns on the margins and writing potential solutions in the center, we saw how interconnected our challenges are. It was a stark reminder of both personal responsibility and the importance of seeking collective support. A pointed comment on how humans, despite being social beings, often fail to connect in today’s culture of individualism hit home. These activities resonated deeply with the theme of youth needs and aspirations, helping us articulate our abstract ideas and understand the challenges and opportunities young people face today. The discussions were inspiring, and the stories shared by the group were relatable, shedding light on how we can take the first step toward addressing these concerns. This session left us feeling empowered and motivated, and we can’t wait for future Youth Adda events! #YouthLeadership #YouthVoices #JashneAgaaz2024 #Collaboration #Empowerment #SocialChange #Pravah
