Rise Against Hunger India envisions a world where everyone has access to quality food and nutrition at all times.

About us

Rise Against Hunger India envisions a world without hunger. Our mission is to nourish lives, empower communities, respond to emergencies and build a movement of hunger action champions. While communities work toward a future in which they can thrive, vulnerable families and individuals around the globe still have basic, immediate needs. That’s why Rise Against Hunger India supports safety net programs that provide nourishment, as well as additional skills training or services that support the difficult journey out of poverty. Rise Against Hunger India meals are provided in schools to encourage increased enrollment and attendance. Meals distributed in hospitals and clinics supplement nutritional needs of patients recovering from TB, Cancer, HIV/AIDS and complement their treatments. For community empowerment programs, Rise Against Hunger India focuses on sustainable food security through community-based projects on climate smart agriculture, land and soil management, food production, storage and marketing, introduction of new technologies for small farmers. Rise Against Hunger India aims to increase agricultural production and incomes through programs promoting improved agricultural methods, business skills, and market access. We work with smallholder farmers to build resilience to the shocks and stresses of climate change by promoting ecological approaches to agriculture as well as diversification. Our recent SAMBAL Initiative aims to support rural households in hunger pockets in the country through farm and non-farm interventions. VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT No single agency or government can end hunger alone, and it will take everyone to make this a movement. Backed by a strong belief that anyone from anywhere, regardless of their age, gender, qualification can take action and make a positive difference in the fight against hunger, we have a range of volunteering initiatives that are open to all. Even seemingly small contributions can add up to a BIG impact.

  • Our #volunteerengagement program provides a very tangible and practical means for anyone who wants to make a difference. Volunteers 🙋♀️ participate in a direct hands-on activity where they package 📦 #nutritious meals to serve the needy. Every year, we organize group events across the country with thousands of volunteers who are employees from #corporate groups & other organizations, students from different schools and colleges, members of clubs & professional associations to package millions of meals. Every Saturday, we also open our volunteering programs in our office premises or in the warehouses in #Bangalore, #Delhi, #Mumbai and #Bhubaneswar. This is open for anyone and everyone who want to do connect with a cause and make a meaningful impact. Thanks to the volunteers who have been part of the Rise Against Hunger India volunteering experience through the #CommunityMealPackaging events. • As #RiseAgainstHungerIndia envisions a world without hunger, we collaborate with like-minded partners who help expand our impact. As part of this effort, we organised an #NGOPartnersMeet in Bangalore, Karnataka, where 10 partners from Bangalore, Hyderabad, and surrounding districts came together on a shared platform. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and insightful discussions on strengthening our efforts to ensure that fortified meals play a vital role improving education, health and nutrition. We also explored ways to empower vulnerable communities to build a sustainable future, where they can thrive. As part of the event, we distributed hygiene kits to our partners, who run children’s homes. The meet concluded on a positive note, with all partners reaffirming their commitment to building a #hungerfree and #healthierfuture. We are also excited to #collaborate with new partners and take meaningful steps toward ending hunger. #CSR #givingback #togetherforchange #nutritionforall #SustainableFuture

  • 🌾 RBI sounds the alarm: Climate change is disrupting India’s agriculture! 🌦️ A recent RBI study has confirmed what farmers have long feared—erratic weather is hitting crop yields and fuelling food inflation. While India reported strong kharif output and better rabi sowing, the bigger picture is alarming: climate change is an undeniable threat to our food security. Key findings from the Report: 🌱 Cereals & Pulses suffer when rainfall is deficient in June-July. 🌿 Oilseeds (like soybean) are highly vulnerable to excess rain during harvest. 🌾 Maize is more sensitive to rainfall variations than paddy, which benefits from irrigation. 📈 Food inflation has doubled—from 2.9% (2016-2020) to 6.3% in the 2020s—thanks to extreme weather disrupting supply chains. What Needs to Change? ✔️ Crop-specific & region-specific water management strategies ✔️ Investment in drought- & flood-resistant crop varieties ✔️ Smarter irrigation & rainwater harvesting ✔️ Stronger early warning systems & better crop insurance With unpredictable monsoons and rising global temperatures, India must adapt. The future of our food security depends on it. Read the full article- https://lnkd.in/gmMh5YUY #RBIFinds #ClimateChange #FoodSecurity #Agriculture #ClimateResilience #SustainableFarming

  • Santosh (name changed) a young school-going boy, was full of dreams until illness took over. What started as mild symptoms of cough soon worsened, leading to the diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB) at the local TB cell. His father, a farmer, struggled to meet Santosh’s nutritional needs. The village’s rough roads made travel difficult, and since frequent visits disrupted his father’s work, he couldn’t accompany Santosh. This forced Santosh’s brother to rent a house closer to the hospital, ensuring he could complete his medication course. However, prolonged illness left Santosh too weak to respond to treatment effectively. That’s when #RiseAgainstHungerIndia stepped in and provided fortified meals to support his recovery. With proper nutrition he regained his strength and responded better to the treatment. Now, Santosh is TB-free, back in school and looking forward to a brighter future. He extends his heartfelt gratitude to Rise Against Hunger India and the local TB cell for supporting him in his toughest time. Unlike Santosh, there are many still battling TB. This #WorldTBDay let’s join hands to spread awareness, support those in need, and help them overcome this disease because together we can #EndTB. #YESWECANENDTB #24March #WorldTuberculosisDay

  • Ranjita’s fight against Tuberculosis (TB): Journey of courage and hope!✨ Ranjita (name changed) and her 2-year-old daughter live alone in their village while her husband works as a migrant labourer. She single-handedly manages their farmland. However, when her health began to decline, everything changed, as she had no one else to care for her daughter. Ranjita reached out to one of the Community Animators from #RiseAgainstHungerIndia for help. Then, she was taken to the district hospital, where she was diagnosed with tuberculosis (TB), and her treatment began immediately. We ensured that she took her medicines on time, followed her treatment plan, and provided her with fortified meals to help her regain strength. Today, she stands strong, takes care of her daughter and farmland. Her journey shows how the right support at the right time could be a boon that turns fear into strength. She expresses her gratitude to Rise Against Hunger India for standing with her in the darkest phase of her life, ensuring that she becomes self-reliant and can provide her daughter with a better and healthier future. #ENDTB #WORLDTBDAY #YESWECANENDTB

  • How Tuberculosis (TB) tried to break him, but he fought back and Won!💪 Bikash (name changed) a daily wage worker from an economically weaker section, was struggling with TB and in a critical state, severely weak, struggling to stand and unable to eat. The impact of TB had left him physically and mentally exhausted. At that moment, #RiseAgainstHungerIndia stepped in and, through its NGO partner, Sofia Educational & Welfare Society, extended support to Bikash. He eventually received required care and attention at the shelter home run by the Welfare Society, where he was given fortified meals that were both nourishing and easy to digest. As Bikash has got the required nutrition and medication, his appetite returned, his strength grew, and with each passing day, hope took the place of despair. Today, Bikash has not only won the battle against TB but rejuvenated his life with strength and determination. He is back to work and filled with gratitude for the support he received during his darkest phase. He is thankful to Rise Against Hunger India and Sofia Educational & Welfare Society for enabling him to celebrate his life once again and dreaming for a healthier future. #ENDTB #WORLDTBDAY #YESWECANENDTB
