Mahatma Gandhi gave us a very important life rule – don’t wait for others to bring the change you want to see. Today on his birth anniversary, let’s see how we can enforce this in our lives. Creating Global Models for Social Change
About us
We are building global models for social change. Bowing to the power of collective action, we are enabling communities to become owners of their destiny, while solving problems of the world through climate action, food security, youth engagement and enabling agency for women. We are steering the largest experiment in the world to create an ecosystem of holistic wellbeing, bringing together people and planet. Our dedicated and passionate teams are spearheading revolutionary transformations, addressing global challenges, creating solutions that undergo extensive pilot testing before scaling up exponentially, and in the process generating substantial evidence that advocates for change. We started in 2018 with the intent to bring back holistic wellbeing to Punjab through our programs spread over Environment & Sustainability, Youth Development, and Women’s Empowerment. Soon we realised that our models of change could be applied to any geography of the world.

We are thrilled to announce our recent collaboration with Punjab Football Club and Roundglass Hockey Team. For every goal they score, Roundglass Foundation will plant 500 trees. #Goals2Trees Quoting our Leader, Vishal Chowla, “At Roundglass Foundation, we execute our work by engaging with communities and the public at large. This campaign is a great opportunity for sports and athlete communities to come forward and associate with us in creating real environmental impact on the ground.” At Roundglass Foundation we immensely value the contribution sports makes to our society. Our sports stars play a huge role in influencing children and youth to take on healthy habits and practice a healthy lifestyle. Through this collaboration we get the opportunity to pay a lasting tribute to their hard-work and dedication. We are cheering for Punjab FC and Roundglass Hockey Team. Go and hit that goal. #SportsForEnvironment #SustainableSports #PunjabFC #RoundglassHockey #GreenInitiative #PlantingHope #SportsAndSustainability #HealthyHabits #EnvironmentalImpact #RoundglassFoundation

The Chipko Andolan is a significant ecofeminist movement from our country. Gurpreet Ghuggi, the famous Indian actor and comedian, recently spoke about it when he came to plant a mini forest of 10,000 trees with us. He had visited with the star cast and team of his Punjabi movie, Ardaas Sarbat De Bhale Di. While interacting when he mentioned the Chipko Movement, it brought back memories of this grassroots activism for ecological balance. Here are a few facts about the movement to refresh our memories: 🌳 The Chipko Movement was a nonviolent response to deforestation started in the 1970s in Garwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand (then Uttar Pradesh). 🌳 The Hindi word ‘chipko’ means ‘to cling to’ or ‘to hug’. Villagers embraced trees to prevent them from being cut down. 🌳 The movement had a strong participation from local women. Women would encircle the tree, hugging the trunk, not allowing to chop it down. 🌳 It was led by environmentalists like Sunderlal Bahuguna, Gaura Devi, and Chandni Prasad Bhatt. Gaura Devi had led a group of women to physically hug trees, successfully preventing the felling of trees by loggers. 🌳 The Indian government recognized the movement and in 1980 Prime Minister Indira Gandhi issued a 15-year ban on commercial logging in the Himalayan forests of Uttar Pradesh. Similar bans were brought to force in Himachal Pradesh. 🌳 The Chipko Movement is a landmark in India’s environmental history. It has added much to modern India’s environmental awareness. Watch the video below to know what Gurpreet Ghuggi said about the movement. #ChipkoMovement #SustainableLiving #EnvironmentalActivism #SaveTrees #GurpreetGhuggi #ArdaasSarbatDeBhaleDi #PlantForThePlanet #MiniForest #WomenPower #GrassrootsMovement #NatureConservation #GreenRevolution #ClimateAwareness

Financial independence for women is important in our country for both personal empowerment of women and societal progress. When women start earning, they break stereotypes and gender norms in the society. It reshapes their roles in the family and community. With a secure earning women become more confident and gain the ability to make decisions for themselves and their families. Financially independent women are better equipped to handle abusive relationships and exploitation. Women’s participation in the workforce contributes significantly to economic growth. Here’s an article that highlights why financial independence for women is important - https://lnkd.in/gvatTfA5 Our Learn Labs are centers of experiential learning for children. These Learn Labs are managed by local rural women. Most of them come from very humble backgrounds. Learn Labs not only helps them become financially independent, but also helps them gain confidence, develop communication skills, and learn to work with computers. Parampreet, from Chuhar Majra village in Punjab, is one the 177 Changemakers working with us. Watch her journey of transformation in the video below. #ChardiKala #FinancialIndependence #WomenEmpowerment #BreakingStereotypes #GenderEquality #LearnLabs #WomenChangemakers #FinancialFreedom

Insightful post by Women in Sport about the role fathers play in their daughters being active and sporty. Backed by research, they say there’s a gap when it comes to girls feeling encouraged by their fathers. Check the post below. Under our 1Girl 1Football program, 2,397 rural girls train with us in football. It is difficult to get parents to allow their girls to step out and play. Our coaches personally visit the homes of each girl, engaging with the parents to outline physical and mental health benefits of playing sports. They also highlight the valuable life skills their daughters can develop on the playground. We need to support our girls and help them explore their full potential. Here’s a video we shot sometime back at our Sports Center in Chak Mafi village of Punjab. Roles got reversed here when a father of four daughters got inspired by his girls to come and play - https://lnkd.in/gb-U4KZc
Who are teenage girls biggest supporters when it comes to exercise?🤔 While girls and boys feel equally supported to exercise by their mum, there is a gap when it comes to feeling encouraged by dads. Half of boys feel their dad supports them to be active, while only 31% of girls agree. BUT we know when dads support their daughters, they are more likely to be sporty. Fathers and father figures can be a powerful source of support for girls. Can we make it just as normal for dads and daughters to be sporty together, as it is for fathers and sons? 🤩 Read our research: https://lnkd.in/eW4-Y_Ck Interested in taking our Accelerate Sport course on Engaging Teenage Girls in Sport? Think of a tree as a new acquaintance – get to know its bark and its leaves, the roots that snake along the ground. Consider how it changes with the seasons. Touch it, smell it, look carefully at the other species that colonize it: ants, ladybugs, birds.
