National Maritime Games 2025 by DGS, a Historic First for the Indian Maritime Industry The National Maritime Games 2025, officially launched with the "Kheloge To Khiloge" clarion call by Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, during the 50th-anniversary celebrations of the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS), is just around the corner. This first-of-its-kind sporting event is being organized by the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) under the dynamic leadership of Shri Shyam Jagannathan, IAS, Director General of Shipping. The Opening Ceremony is scheduled at @Indian Maritime University Navi Mumbai Campus The event will be graced by Dr. P.T. Usha (MP), President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), as Chief Guest, adding further prestige to this landmark occasion. A Special Event with Dr. P.T. Usha will take place at the Ramsheth Thakur International Sports Complex in Ulwe, Navi Mumbai where she will inaugurate Sporting events, bringing her legendary presence to inspire maritime athletes. With India's aspirations to host the upcoming Commonwealth Games and making a bold push for the 2036 Olympics, this is the perfect time for the maritime industry to step into the national sporting arena. The launch of the National Maritime Games marks a significant step in ensuring that the maritime sector has a strong representation in the country’s growing sports movement. As India cements its reputation as a rising sports powerhouse, this initiative not only promotes fitness and camaraderie within the maritime community but also aligns with the nation’s larger vision of fostering excellence in sports. The National Maritime Games 2025 is being supported by some of the most prestigious maritime organizations, including the Shipping Corporation of India Ltd.
