  • We are proud to celebrate International Women’s Day by reflecting on the progress we are making towards improving diversity and inclusion within our company, both onshore and at sea. Click the link below to read a Q&A with our two recently promoted female Masters, on how the industry can attract more women seafarers. https://lnkd.in/diagjHBP

  • Earlier this month, Fleet Management Limited was invited to a special inauguration event with the Honourable Union Minister of State, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shri Shantanu Thakur, and the Directorate General (DG) of Shipping, Government of India, in Mumbai. The event signaled the launch of two cross-industry initiatives to advance seafarer well-being and increase the cohort of women in India’s maritime sector. Director General of Shipping Shri Shyam Jagannathan was also present at the launch event. The two government-led programmes – Sagar Mein Samman and Sagar Mein Yog – focus on seafarer welfare and wellbeing, and empowering and providing support to women in maritime respectively. Sagar Mein Yog advocates for the physical and mental wellbeing of seafarers. By addressing the emotional and interpersonal challenges experienced by seafarers, the programme intends to lower medical emergencies, costs, and reduce crew turnover rates in the maritime sector. Sagar Mein Samman is a concerted effort to empower women in maritime. Citing a 1715% (345 to 5,918) increase in women seafarers in India’s maritime sector over the last ten years already, the administration plans to support further growth by increasing gender sensitisation programmes, safety and wellbeing programmes, as well as empowerment through professional development. Fleet Management is already a key member of an elite industry taskforce established to conceptualise, implement, and enhance campaigns focusing on critical seafarer-specific aspects. Representatives from our seafarer welfare and safety training divisions are already working with industry stakeholders to implement and enhance such initiatives. By sharing our expertise in industry forums, we continue to contribute to the advancement of the maritime industry and apply fresh insights across our global fleet. #FleetStories #India #Maritime #GenderEquality #Shipping

  • Making Waves with RO Technology 🌊 Fleet Management is tackling the issue of plastic in our oceans by installing Reverse Osmosis systems across our global fleet. Through our #Refill campaign, we are reducing waste, conserving resources, and cutting emissions. Half of our fleet has adopted RO, reducing packaging waste. RO supports circular processes and minimizes reliance on shore-based water supply. 80% of ships participated in our environmental survey, show real progress. Thank you to all our crews and teams for putting these plans into action. Together, we are navigating toward a greener future! • We commend the outstanding crew of the Cabo San Vicente for their dedication to safety and humanity during a remarkable rescue operation off the coast of Colombia. On January 20, 2025, the crew’s vigilance and quick action led to the successful rescue of two individuals who had been adrift at sea for 11 days after their boat suffered an engine failure. Despite language barriers and the uncertainty of the situation, the crew responded promptly to distress signals, safely approached the stranded vessel boat, and offered life-saving assistance. The two survivors were visibly exhausted and dehydrated but found immediate relief as the crew provided food, water, blankets, and medical care. Ensuring their safety and comfort became a top priority as the team worked tirelessly to communicate with maritime authorities across Panama, Colombia, and Ecuador, coordinating efforts for a safe and efficient rescue. This operation is a powerful reminder of the profound responsibility we all share to protect lives at sea. The crew’s ability to assess the situation, adapt to challenges, and extend compassion reflects the values that define our organisation. Their diligence, teamwork, and humanity made all the difference in turning a potentially tragic situation into one of hope and recovery. Thank you to the Cabo San Vicente team for their heroism and dedication, as well as the shore-based teams who supported the operation. Together, we continue to demonstrate the highest standards of safety, care, and professionalism in our industry. #FleetStories #SafetyAtSea
