Reimagining India, School By School

About us

Every example of systems change across the world – the ones that have climbed the trajectory from poor to good – have had new innovative and disruptive schools at the centre of them. They’ve also held renewed pipelines to reconstruct the state of talent in the sector. At The Circle, we’re striving to fuel both. We envision an India that is free of poverty and filled with love. In pursuit of that vision, we aspire to create a network of schools, teachers, and after-school centres that are reinventing the country’s educational system. We’re building an innovative model to build a reinvented circle of schools, after-school centers, and teachers that, together, empower low-income students to change the world. The Circle Incubation Our incubation is an 18-month fully paid, intensive program for entrepreneurs with the courage and commitment to redesign and launch innovative learning experiences for India’s children. The Circle Labs A combination of capacity-building programs, light-touch workshops, media campaigns, school transformation programming, and top-down advocacy efforts.

📚What does literacy mean to us? How can we reimagine our understanding of literacy? 📚 Over the next few days, stay tuned as we explore the potential answers to these questions in this series on literacy. Our guests had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of our school, enjoying music performances, a captivating film screening, and exploring our Visual Arts Labs and Artworks. The day was filled with lively interactions, as the entrepreneurs engaged with our students and faculty, gaining insights into the student experiences, curriculum, and pedagogy that define our educational approach. It was inspiring to see such enthusiastic discussions about educational innovation and we are excited about the potential collaborations that could emerge from this visit. Celebrating Our Teachers: The Heart of Sky High On this special day, we pause to celebrate and express our deepest gratitude to the incredible teachers at Sky High. Every day, we witness our teachers' unwavering dedication, relentless hard work, and remarkable openness to learn and grow. Yet, we must also recognize that many of these teachers come from a system that hasn’t always served them well—a system that's traditional and has failed to nurture their true potential for growth and professional advancement. With the support of our exceptional teacher coaches, they embrace new methodologies, seek feedback, and continuously refine their craft—all with the singular goal of empowering our students. It’s not easy, but their willingness to rise to this challenge, to step out of their comfort zones, and to commit to evolving alongside their students is nothing short of extraordinary. The bond they build with each child, the trust and love they cultivate, is nothing short of magical. It’s this connection that turns learning into something deeply personal and transformative. To our teachers, thank you. You’re not just teaching lessons—you’re building futures, unlocking potential, and shaping tomorrow's leaders. Your work matters, and today we celebrate you for all you do. A special shoutout to our teacher coaches (Satyam Kumar & W. Aakash), who serve as mentors, guiding and supporting our educators to achieve excellence in their classrooms. Through your efforts, you're not only improving instruction but also empowering our teachers to grow and thrive. P.S. Our leader, Akash Yadav, often steps into the classroom to teach and connect with the kids. It’s his way of staying close to the heart of learning while showing our teachers what’s possible when you engage with students on a deeper level. (Here’s a glimpse of that!) Happy Teachers' Day to the heartbeat of Sky High! 💙 Neetu Bajpai | Neha Kushwaha | Pragya Awasthi | Shruti Shahi | Alpana Verma | Anshika Shukla | Ruhi Bano | Shristi Katiyar #teachersday #educationforall #ruraleducationimpact #transformingruralschools #empoweringeducators #teachers #celebratingteachers

Founder and Chief Executive Officer at iTeach Schools

Madhukar Reddy Banuri at Leadership For Equity today launched Sadhana - a Teaching Excellence Lab in Pune. Akash Yadav at Sky High started his school in Akbarpur in rural Uttar Pradesh a few weeks ago. Sandeep Rai founded The Circle two years ago and has incubated 20+ schools and after-school centers already. Kanchan Thadani conceptualized and introduced Blended Learning across 8 iTeach Schools just in the past three months. Rahul Adwani is starting PCMC's first PPP English Medium secondary school this coming Monday. Bhavya Malhotra took over a 700-student low-performing school in June, and is going full-steam ahead transforming everything about it. These are just a few leaders who've inspired me in the past 3 months of the academic year 2024-25 - I could go on and on honestly.  And you know what's common amongst all these folks? They all started their careers in ed reform as school teachers.  An avalanche is coming - one that promises to wipe out educational inequity in our country. All of us are pebbles in that avalanche (Amit Verma's beautiful phrase) - we will never know which pebble triggered it, but that hardly matters. Each pebble in itself is magical. Happy Teachers Day!

On this Teacher’s Day, I’m compelled to share the extraordinary story of a teacher who redefines what dedication, resilience, and commitment mean. Just imagine - one day, you suffer a severe burn on your right hand, and as if that wasn’t enough, the very next day, you get the same hand fractured. The pain? Unbearable Right? Most of us would take time to heal, but not her. Despite being in deep pain, she chooses to show up every single day - no rest, no breaks, not even on Sundays. Why? Because she is not just a teacher. She is a visionary, building a school aptly name HOPE, where she is changing the lives of children of Jalalabad. Her dedication goes beyond the ordinary - it’s relentless, it’s raw, and it’s real. In the face of countless personal challenges, her commitment never waves. In India, where too often the focus remains on rote learning and exam scores, many overlook what truly matters: a teacher’s ability to connect with their students to nurture their potential, make them think, and inspire them to dream beyond. She is changing that. She teaches her students not just to pass exams but to become resilient, compassionate, and critical thinkers. She is the kind of teacher we need in every classroom—the kind who leads by example. On this Teacher’s Day, I am not just celebrating teachers. But celebrating those who carry hope in their hands fractured, burned, or otherwise and still move mountains to shape the future. Thank you Sakshi Srivastava for being an amazing, and impactful teacher to me. Happy Teacher's Day to all teachers who give everything, every single day, thank you. #HappyTeachersDay #Inspiration #Resilience #HOPE #BuildingTheFuture #TrueLeadership #CelebratingTeachers #Gratitude

Beyond the classroom and across time, how a teacher makes us feel, stays. When a teacher gifts us the joy of learning, its profundity is felt by is and we are moved to share that very joy with someone else in the world. Here, at The Circle, great teachers have pushed so many of us to teach, volunteer, and dream of starting our own schools!                                                                   This Teachers’ Day, we want to thank all the teachers who relentlessly pour themselves into this pursuit of sharing the joy of learning despite everything that stands in their way. Thank you for doing what you do :) We are certain that you have stories and teachers in them who have changed the way you look at the world and we want to hear from you! Tell us, who is a teacher who has impacted you? . . Thank you for sharing your stories :) Nivi Siddharthan | Suhani Joshi | Akash Nath | Rutuja Bhoite |
