"Hope is our superpower", Bryan Stevenson, Director of Equal Justice Initiative opened the 2024 Art for Tomorrow with a powerful address to our audience diving into the beauty of justice and truth. Our opening panel, Arts as the Ultimate Mediator, brought together Ronen Berger, Art Therapist, Adama Sanneh, Moleskine Foundation CEO & Venya Brykalin of Vogue UA walked us through the different ways of how arts can help us overcome political and cultural divides. Dana Dajani enchanted us with her poetry performance "My Pain" Magnus Resch, Art Market Economist, Thaddaeus Ropac, Founder of Thaddaeus Ropac, and Victoria Siddall, Founder of Murmur discussed Beauty and the Marketplace, the price of art, and how "the market has outgrown his role" according to Ropac. A very precious set of days spent with Moleskine Foundation in the gorgeous grounds of Nirox Foundation in South Africa reflecting on ‘The Alchemy of Words’. The days were shaped by a selection of Moleskine’s Creativity Pioneers who organise literature festivals, write songs, make social homes and build communities for writers and for words/books themselves through public libraries. In an afternoon with the great Mam Barbara Masekela, writer and once head of the ANC’s Department of Arts and Culture in the liberation struggle we were urged to be contemporary in our engagement around what arts and artists can offer in the ongoing work of freedom. Musician/thinker Msaki reminded us too that artists are conduits of collective emotion and in a world as broken as ours they too need to be held. Grateful for the leading vision of Adama Sanneh , CEO and co-founder of Moleskine Foundation in his clarity on the need for new leadership globally and the absolute centrality of creativity to this. #philanthropy #creativity #leadership

What is creativity's intelligence and generative power to change the world in measurable and immeasurable ways? The Alchemy of Words is a 5-day gathering in collaboration with the Nirox Foundation, supported by the Hawthornden Foundation, discovering the answer to this question through the work of the Creativity Pioneers that use creative writing and literature to find solutions to foster social change in their communities. 9 Creativity Pioneers, who represent nine international cultural and creative organizations from 3 different continents are gathering at NIROX for five days of communion, workshops, restoration, and meaningful exchanges on the topic of creativity for social change As part of the program, last Sunday, we had the honor of hosting a discussion between Barbara Masekela, writer, poet, and former Chief of Staff to Nelson Mandela, and the award-winning composer, singer, songwriter, and visual artist Msaki.
