Open-Source Peacekeeping-Intelligence (#OPKI) “Timely peacekeeping-intelligence allows #peacekeepers to better protect civilians – and each other – in increasingly complex and dangerous environments.”* #UNGSC is pleased to host the Open-Source Peacekeeping-Intelligence (OPKI) Course, a practical training that empowers civilian, military, and police staff with critical tools to enhance the safety and security of peacekeepers and the protection of civilians. From 14-18 October, participants hailing from nine peacekeeping missions are getting acquainted with a wide array of OPKI tools and practicing their newly acquired skills in live exercises. The Course addresses the imperative to take advantage of open-source resources, especially in times of rapidly evolving information environments, including misinformation and disinformation increasingly targeting peacekeeping missions and personnel. *The OPKI Course is organized by the Peacekeeping-Intelligence Academy of the UN Department of Peace Operations, with the support of subject matter experts from the Federal Republic of Germany.

#UNGSC was pleased to welcome representatives of the management of the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) to our Brindisi premises.   The visit focused on continuing to strengthen synergies and collaborations between UNGSC and #UNOG, notably in the areas of environmental resource management, training, and capacity building.   Tapping UNGSC's unique integration of digital technology, supply chain and environmental expertise, the flagship initiative Field Remote Infrastructure Monitoring (#FRIM), which has been successfully rolled out in field missions and is being extended to other entities, was of particular interest.    Other related features being explored included the “environmental Action Planning and Performance” (#eAPP) online platform, which collects data for over 100 performance indicators (KPIs) and informs annual environmental scorecards to provide an overview of performance and support data-driven decisions and accountability to Member States.   UNGSC thanks UNOG for their visit and words of appreciation for the "passion, dedication, and professionalism" of UNGSC staff, and looks forward to furthering our cooperation. #digitaltechnology #supplychain #environment UN Photo | Luca Nestola
