About us

The Amahoro Coalition is an African-led initiative convening multi-sector actors from across the region to accelerate private sector leadership in driving sustainable market-based interventions that advance economic inclusion for displaced populations. Our mission is to engage and enable the African private sector to expand access to education and livelihood opportunities for refugees while creating value for African businesses and society at large. Our vision is for refugees to be able to lead lives of dignity and achieve their full potential, ultimately paving the way to more inclusive development and peaceful prosperity throughout the African continent. Last week, we were thrilled to welcome our partners from The Amahoro Coalition to Aspire Digital Hub for insightful discussions around our shared vision of empowering refugee communities through tech and skills development. 💡 We are excited to build on this momentum with the official launch of our 10-week skilling program on 6th September! With 25 dedicated trainees, we’re providing hands-on training in WordPress Web Development, Digital Marketing, and Photography—all aimed at equipping participants with the tools they need to succeed in the digital economy. 🌍💻 This initiative would not be possible without the support and collaboration of like-minded partners who believe in the transformative power of digital education. Together, we are creating real opportunities for those who need them most, paving the way for lasting change and sustainable growth. As we move forward, we are excited to continue working with our partners and welcome new collaborations that share our commitment to empowering individuals and communities. Stay tuned for updates as our trainees begin their transformative journeys! 🤝 I PROFILE FOUNDATION 🤝 HOPE HUB #SkillsForRefugees #AmahoroCoalition #AspiredigitalHub

✨ Last week, we had another successful event at the Dunoon Community Health Centre! I am deeply grateful to all the nurses who supported us, especially Thembi, whose dedication and assistance were invaluable. A special thank you to Jani Uys for playing such a crucial role in making this event happen. Your commitment truly makes a difference. Having The Amahoro Coalition team with us made the event extra special. Huge thanks to Julia Oduol, Atlanta, Ruth Nyabuto, and Cindy Oyugi for joining us and ensuring everything ran smoothly. This week, we were privileged to have the The Amahoro Coalition team visit us in Kampala. As we continue our journey to scale up our ventures with support from Amahoro, it was a great opportunity to discuss our progress and receive valuable advice on addressing some of the challenges we face. After these discussions, we had the chance to meet the new fellows of the 2nd cohort from Kampala. Listening to them share their feelings, excitement, and expectations reminded me of last year when we joined the fellowship. It was heartwarming to see that they also feel a sense of belonging and view this as the opportunity they've been searching for. The #AmahoroFellowship family is growing bigger and better 😊, which means our continent's future is being effectively built.

I had the privilege of meeting and greeting the Amahoro Fellowship team, both the first and second cohorts, at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel in Kampala, Uganda. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn from the first cohort about their inspiring journeys and experiences with the The Amahoro Coalition. I was particularly delighted to connect with Mr Julius and Shadrack, both members of the Amahoro Coalition who traveled from Kenya. Your insights and stories were invaluable and have greatly enriched my understanding of the Amahoro initiative. Looking forward to continuing our collaboration and seeing you all soon! #AmahoroFellowship #Networking #Leadership #Inspiration #Kampala Ismail Saxafi Shalom Ishimwe

Last week, our Private Partnerships Leads hosted a roundtable in Bangui with Central African private sector representatives—including telecoms, consultancy agencies, construction firms, HR agencies—and the EU. The discussion focused on understanding the business landscape and creating market-based solutions for host communities, returnees, refugees, and internally displaced persons, especially through opportunities in the agriculture sector. The meeting also discussed issues around financing, tax incentives, and capacity building. They committed to increased engagement and expanding the network to co-create more breakthrough opportunities for displaced people in Central Africa.
