When a girl is educated, she has the power to shape her own future. Missionary Sisters of the Catechism- Mulot, a partner of Avsi Kenya, held a girl-child-centered session, training them on: 👉 Physical, emotional and psychological changes during puberty 👉 Personal hygiene 👉 Menstruation cycle and pregnancy 👉 Sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS 👉 Cultural changes and Female Genital Mulitation The sessions provided an opportunity to #stepupthepace in ensuring self-awareness for the girls on Female Genital Mutilation that contributes to early school dropouts, health complications, and child marriage, hence robbing girls of opportunities to excel. By educating girls, families, and communities about the dangers of female genital mutilation, we empower them to say NO and protect their right to a safe, healthy, and fulfilling life. #EndFGM #Unite2EndFGM #PeopleForDevelopment

Under the ‘Economic Recovery to the Impact of Covid-19 on Agri-Food Value Chain in Kenya’ project, Chuka University carried out a feed assessment to identify the gaps in quality and challenges affecting the utilization of commercial dairy animal feeds in #Meru and #TharakaNithi Counties. Today the results collected from 20 dairy agri-producer cooperative groups involving 105 select farmers will be presented to farmers and other stakeholders from the two counties. The survey feedback provides an opportunity to address commercial dairy feed gaps and help the industries effectively address the needs of dairy farmers. We cannot forget that, as of today, more than 250 million #children still cannot go to #school. 📢 Strengthening Healthcare Systems in East Africa: A Data-Driven Approach 📊 Data plays a crucial role in assessing and improving health outcomes in communities. Through the regional health program in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania funded by Agenzia Italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo, we are sharing best practices on how data is used to evaluate healthcare performance, with real cases from six health facilities across these countries. At our recent regional workshop in Uganda, 27 health specialists, including representatives from the Ministries of Health, gathered to discuss the impact of data-driven decision-making in strengthening healthcare systems. This initiative is already showing positive results, including a reduction in maternal and neonatal mortality rates. As highlighted by Dr. Paul Mbaka, Assistant Commissioner at Uganda’s Ministry of Health, these collaborative efforts are saving lives. By working together—governments, healthcare professionals, donors, and communities—we can ensure that every mother and newborn receives the quality care they deserve. In September 2022, the Economic Recovery to the Impact of COVID-19 on Agri-Food Value Chain in Kenya project began with the aim to help small-scale farmers and agri-producer groups recover from the socio-economic effects of COVID-19. With funding from Italian Agency for Development Cooperation - Nairobi Office, the project is being implemented in Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi counties, engaging 15,000 small-scale dairy farmers and 30 dairy cooperatives. It focuses on promoting Climate smart farming practices, Agri entrepreneurship, ICT training, sustainable market access, Youth Groups training, clean energy among others. This project is transforming lives by empowering communities. So far, over 2,498 beneficiaries have received subsidized fodder recovery kits, 322 trained on ICT for digitization, 1,253 agri-producer group leaders have been trained in governance and management skills and 10 radio programs aired to provide extension information to farmers. These efforts are driving improved milk production per cow, leading to increased income, better living standards, and greater economic stability for farmers and their families. #AVSI #PeopleForDevelopment #SustainableFarming
