Our practices aren’t just about producing food—they’re about creating value across ecosystems, nurturing both people and the planet. By innovating at every step, we're proving that sustainable agriculture can benefit all stakeholders, from urban families to smallholder farmers. Let’s build a future where food production regenerates our soils, protects biodiversity, and promotes health. Because how we produce food truly matters! 🌍💚 #SustainableAgriculture #FoodSecurity #MzuriOrganics #CircularEconomy #GreenInnovation #UrbanFarming #SoilHealth #ClimateAction

Honoured to be part of this team!
We are thrilled to have launched the Ag and Food Tech Innovation Basecamp programme at the Delta40 studio yesterday, bringing together 33 leading Ag and FoodTech entrepreneurs from East Africa and neighbouring countries. Each of these teams are building needle-moving solutions across sustainable food systems, novel foods and alternative proteins, AI/Data in agriculture, financing solutions, aquaculture, and more. Next week we will bring together these leading entrepreneurs, investors, corporates, and key ecosystem leaders in the ag- and food-tech sectors at the Scale Summit. This is not your typical conference, it's an event that will be filled with valuable insights and curated connections. The goal is to foster partnerships, accelerate innovation, and scale through pitch sessions, workshops, and panel discussions. Participants will connect with top ag-tech and food-tech entrepreneurs, explore investment opportunities, and engage with global and African leaders in the agriculture space. Stay tuned for the updates. #innovationbasecamp #scalesummit

This remains the most important question and determinant of successful regenerative soil practices. Can we focus in the place where actual work and impact really is? Can we fund innovations in rural communities?
"Even though there is growing consensus globally and even more across the African continent that there is a need for an agriculture and food system that works in harmony with the ecosystem – protecting the environment, its biodiversity, human and animal life – recent analysis shows that there is not enough financing to grow and expand such a system or to even transform the systems entirely." Daniel Moss, Co-Director, Agroecology Fund .."and it's at the grassroots level where these financial investments are most needed. For, it is at the community level where farmers, farmers’ organizations, those working in academia, working with local authorities are scaling agroecology up and out." He asks, "Can you move your resources there? What is in the way of moving your resources there? How can we work together so that more money flows into these critical grassroots-led organizations, networks, and agroecology movements?” Global Alliance for the Future of Food https://lnkd.in/gZRYKXgQ

The UN Environment Programme says, PLASTIC - NOT SO FANTASTIC! We agree, and have a solution for a small part of single use #plastics. We want to replace the plastic name tags that are worn everyday in meetings and conferences, even those discussing elimination of plastics (huh!) Introducing #Green Tags, an innovative and eco-friendly alternative to conventional plastic conference tags. Made from sustainable sugarcane #bagasse, each tag is impregnated with #BSF #frass #fertilizer and contains a #pre-treated seed of an #indigenous tree. At the end of an event, attendees can plant their tags by tearing them apart, mixing them with a handful of soil, and following simple care instructions (found here: https://lnkd.in/dEhyw9ZR) to #grow their own tree. This unique product not only reduces plastic waste but also contributes to #reforestation efforts and environmental restoration. The use of BSF frass fertilizer enhances seed germination and provides essential nutrients for growth. By replacing #single-use plastics and promoting tree planting, Green Tags allow us to play an active role in #mitigating our #carbon footprint and supporting the global fight against #climate change. This initiative symbolizes our commitment to #sustainability, offering a tangible way for individuals to make a lasting positive #impact on the environment.

Thank you to all the stakeholders and partners who joined us for the validation workshop on "The Business Case and Strategies for Scaling Local Manufacturing of Organic Fertilizer in Kenya", a project by Water and Energy for Food Grand Challenge, funded by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and partners. We appreciate your contribution, keen interest and interactive participation. We're excited to integrate all the feedback and insights shared by farmers, manufacturers, distributors, funders, development agencies, farmer associations, startups, innovators and other actors working in the organic inputs and regenerative agriculture landscape. We look forward to sharing the final report and interacting with you further during the Report Launch on October 2nd, 2024! #RegenerativeAgriculture #SoilHealth #BusinessDesign #Research #FoodSystems #HumanCenteredDesign Safi Organics Ltd. Pitching can be really tough sometimes, but we try. By trying, we communicate, by communicating we attract different stakeholders. Here's to trying, and making it! 🍻 https://lnkd.in/dt2ZStHy

The Gates' Problem "Rarely do the targets of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s goodwill, the global poor or smallholder farmers, have a seat at the table. In the case of AGRA Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa the allies include a bevy of corporate partners: Syngenta, Bayer (Monsanto), Corteva Agriscience, John Deere, Nestlé, and even Microsoft ." -Tim Schwab https://lnkd.in/dTJ-Z9nB
