🌍 Africa’s Insurance Landscape: Reinventing the Wheel 💸 Africa’s insurance market remains underdeveloped, with only 3% of the population covered. This gap leaves millions vulnerable, as seen recently when flooding in Maiduguri displaced over 400,000 people—none of whom were insured. Despite government efforts, insurance uptake has been slow due to high costs, inaccessibility, and a largely informal economy. However, change is on the horizon. Insurtech startups like Turaco, mTek Services, and PULA are transforming the industry with affordable, accessible products aimed at low-income earners. For as little as $2, these companies are providing coverage in minutes, processing claims in days, and using innovative methods like mobile money and AI to make insurance more practical for everyday Africans. While progress is being made, the insurance revolution in Africa needs simpler solutions and more partnerships to scale. Startups like PULA, which insures small-scale farmers using satellite data, show that with the right approach, insurance can shift from being a luxury to a necessity across the continent. What will it take for Africa's insurance sector to truly take off? Share your thoughts in the comments below ! 👇 Read the full story right here: https://lnkd.in/dSrmh-qk
