We presented our engagement in Africa at the German Federal President's Citizens' Festival (Bürgerfest des Bundespräsidenten), showcasing our work on vocational orientation and green skills development. For the first time, the international partner country of the festival was a non-European country, Kenya. This year's motto embraced the Swahili term: "Pamoja – stronger together". At the festival, the participating non-profit organisations and private companies reinforced their commitment through social projects in Africa. Close to 15,000 people attended the festival on Friday and Saturday.
Along with #Siemens, we presented our initiatives under the common umbrella theme, "ICT skills unlock the future for young Africans" and the African Girls Can Code initiative. Prof. Dr. Stephan Frucht (Member of our Board of Trustees) and other distinguished colleagues from Siemens, including Sabine Dall'Omo (CEO, Sub-Sahara Africa), and Natalia Oropeza (Chief Diversity Officer) extended their support to this initiative. Our colleagues Rebecca Ottmann and Maja Wirbatz presented our work on education specifically on empowering girls and women in green and digital skills development in Kenya, Ghana and Nigeria.
