Together with colleagues from PPMI, ICF, and the European Commission, we organised the SHARE 2.0 Annual Conference! Last Wednesday, we gathered 100+ European sport sector stakeholders in Brussels to discuss their policy priorities in the areas of innovation, health, and sustainability. Mantas Pupinis and I facilitated discussions on the topics of digitalisation and scale-ups, the key points of which were summarised by topic experts Grzegorz Botwina and Arno Hermans and presented to the Commission's director for sport. The outcomes of these discussions will form the basis of a policy paper, which will in turn inform the new Commission of the sport sector's priorities for the years to come. A big thank you to everyone involved in the organisation and the lively discussions for making this event a success! We're excited to share the news about the publication of an European Investment Bank (EIB) working paper on investment decisions in a high-inflation environment. The paper, co-authored by PPMI (Luka Klimaviciute and Marco Schito) and EIB's Senior Economist Rozália Pál, examines how European firms managed to maintain investment levels during the high-inflation period of 2021-2022, despite the challenges typically associated with rising prices. Firms with the ability to pass on costs to customers were better positioned to navigate the inflationary pressures. SMEs were most incentivised to invest in energy efficiency, while large firms invested to avoid devaluation of their cash reserves. Follow the link in the comments to access the full working paper, and to gain a deeper understanding of these investment dynamics. The analysis was funded in part by DG GROW and the Research Council of Lithuania | Lietuvos mokslo taryba. #PPMIprojects #HighInflation #CorporateFinance #Investment #EIBworkingpaper

PPMI is pleased to support the European Training Foundation (ETF) in implementing the African Continental Qualifications Framework (ACQF-II), a vital initiative commissioned by the EU Delegation to the African Union. This project aims to improve the transparency and comparability of qualifications across Africa, leading to better recognition of skills and more opportunities for lifelong learning and mobility. In the first phase, completed in August 2024, PPMI conducted surveys on National Qualifications Frameworks (NQFs), micro-credentials, and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) practices across Africa, providing essential evidence for the project's success. Our current focus includes supporting micro-credential initiatives in Seychelles to strengthen local policy-making. As the project continues, PPMI will play a key role in supporting the activities of ACQF, such as developing NQFs, RPL campaigns, and capacity-building activities across Africa. #PPMIprojects

PPMI is proud to support the "ONE ILO" approach in Ethiopia, a strategic initiative designed to promote decent work and inclusive industrialisation. This coordinated effort, known as ONEILO SIRAYE, integrates key departments and global programs of the International Labour Organization (ILO), including Better Work, Vision Zero Fund, SCORE, LABADMIN/OSH, and INWORK. Our evaluation will examine how this unified approach has strengthened ILO's efforts in Ethiopia, enhancing both efficiency and impact. We look forward to uncovering valuable lessons from this initiative, not only to guide its next phase but also to inform similar efforts in other countries! #PPMIprojects

Our latest project has successfully reviewed and analysed the impacts of Erasmus+ initiatives, with a focus on boosting digital skills for learners in vocational education and training (VET), while also improving outreach to NEETs and other vulnerable groups. Highlights: 🔍 Identified 100 innovative practices from the Erasmus+ database, with 30 cases explored in-depth for insights.  💻 Hosted a stakeholder workshop in April 2024, validating our findings and gathering valuable input. 📖 Produced a brochure to inspire creativity and innovation among educational stakeholders. Key Achievements: ✅ Identified effective strategies to enhance digital skills in VET programmes. ✅ Provided guidance to help educators support NEETs. ✅ Shared best practices to ensure sustainability and transferability of project impacts. Our findings offer valuable insights and recommendations for EU stakeholders, contributing to the modernisation of VET systems across Europe. These lessons learned will help ensure that VET programmes remain responsive to labour market needs and support learners' growth. 👉 Check the comments for a link to the European Commission’s website to explore the final output of the study!

We are excited to share that in collaboration with Prognos AG, VTT, and Maastricht University, we have successfully completed the Phase 2 Evaluation Support Study on Horizon Europe's contribution to a Resilient Europe. This comprehensive study serves as an input into the interim evaluation of Horizon Europe, covering the period from 2021 to 2023. ✅ Key findings from the study reveal that all three Clusters are well-aligned with EU priorities. Cluster 1 has been particularly adaptable, addressing critical health challenges like infectious diseases and spearheading significant research efforts on COVID-19 and cancer. Cluster 2 has shown potential in harmonizing technological advancements with the protection of fundamental rights and civil liberties. Meanwhile, Cluster 3 is playing a pivotal role in enhancing the EU's cybersecurity framework and contributing to broader security objectives. 📊 The study also notes improvements in the administrative efficiency of Horizon Europe, with higher project success rates and better funding allocation compared to Horizon 2020. These findings provide valuable evidence to guide future adjustments and reorientations of the programme. 📈 #PPMIprojects
