We’re proud to present: The first sandwich panel producer in Spain and Portugal using our organic coated #XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel: Kingspan - Invespanel. ▶ https://lnkd.in/eciQQ5QB They recently launched their ‘Higher Recycled Content’ range of sandwich panels. This partnership is a result of co-engineering focused on construction solutions with a reduced carbon footprint in the building sector. What makes these sandwich panels so special? “Make #steel a key European issue. Organise a European Steel Summit. Act now before it is too late.”   These were the words of MEP Terry Reintke of the European Greens during this morning’s European Parliament plenary debate on tackling the steel crisis. But we could have quoted any number of MEPs, regardless of nationality or political affiliation, all with the same message and sentiment.   Why? Because steel matters to all of us - it's at the heart of Europe, a constant driver of prosperity, resilience and quality jobs. Steel is also the core of the clean technologies we need for our green transition.   But there are a number of issues that are threatening our industry, over which MEPs raised concerns: 🌏 Global steel overcapacity 🇨🇳 Unfit EU Trade Defence Instruments to prevent unfair trade practices ⚡️ High EU energy prices 💶 Low demand for European green steel ♺ The export of European steel scrap 🟢 Issues with the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism 🪫 Insufficient clean energy supply in Europe   In the words of Marie-Pierre Vedrenne MEP, Renew Europe: “How much time do we need before we adopt robust measures? We need to act to protect our businesses, our jobs and our future." And in the words of Raphaël GLUCKSMANN MEP, Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament: “Are we going to let ourselves be beaten by unfair competition or are we going to react?”   We couldn’t agree more.   We count on the European Parliament, together with the European Commission and the EU Member States - Council of the European Union, to ensure that a robust European Steel Action Plan is put forward and implemented swiftly.   It’s make-or-break time for the steel industry.   “We need to move forward immediately. Winds of change! Sustainability and circularity: using wind power to make wind turbine installation vessels for future offshore wind parks. Industeel was proud to participate in the steel cutting ceremony for the wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV), “Wind Apex”, organized by Yantai Tiezhongbao Steel Processing Co Ltd in Shandong Province, People’s Republic of China. This WTIV will be the first built using steel racks made from Industeel’s XCarb® recycled and renewably produced heavy plates in 210mm thickness, manufactured at Industeel France’s heavy plate mill in Chateauneuf. Made with high levels of recycled scrap and using Guarantees of Origin for wind-generated electricity, the use of the electric arc furnace guarantees a significant carbon footprint reduction compared with conventional blast furnace steelmaking. This event was also the occasion for all four parties to cement their commitment to sustainability by engaging in further carbon footprint reduction across the whole chain, so, that Cadeler’s wind turbine installation vessels, essential for the development of major offshore wind farms, can have the lowest carbon footprint possible. ArcelorMittal and ABB Electrification partner to lower the environmental impact of power distribution systems. ABB Electrification’s #Kabeldon cabinet, which will premiere this week at Enlit Europe 2024 in Milan, Italy, is manufactured with our #XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel. Thanks to XCarb®, ABB Electrification was able to lower Kabeldon’s manufacturing carbon footprint by 29%, which will also help customers to reduce their power infrastructure’s environmental footprint. ArcelorMittal has signed an open letter, addressed to European heads of state, ahead of the EU summit taking place in Brussels tomorrow. The European steel industry is in the worst crisis in 15 years, and is battling the dual impact of unfair trade and global steel overcapacity, on top of low steel demand and high energy prices in the EU. We’re asking heads of state and governments of the EU member states to support us on four topics: -urgent strengthening of trade defence measures;  -making the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism more effective;  -acting on high energy costs;  -and establishing lead markets for our low carbon-emissions steel.
