🙌 🇺🇸 In just a few days, the President of Latvia and the Minister of Economics will lead a delegation of 60 Latvian businesses on the largest-ever trade mission to the US. 🤝 The mission aims to establish connections with investors, potential clients, and partners and create the foundation for strengthening economic ties between Latvia and the US. 🎯 The ambitious goals include: ✅ Doubling trade relations with the US within five years, reaching a turnover of €1.9 billion. ✅ A projected 15% increase in trade for participating companies within a year. ✅ Identifying at least three new investment projects with a combined potential of €150 million. 👥 In preparation for the visit, the Minister of Economics and the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) representatives met with all entrepreneurs yesterday, September 10, to get acquainted and network. 💬 "I am confident that during this visit, we will attract investments of at least 1 billion euros, which will significantly impact the Latvian economy over the next 3 to 5 years. I also believe that, largely due to this visit, Latvian exports to the US will double in that timeframe," said Viktors Valainis, Minister of Economics, opening the event. 📍 The Latvian delegation will visit three US cities - Houston, San Francisco, and Denver - from 16 to 24 September. 🏆🎊 In the latest Emerging Europe Investment Promotion report, the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) has outperformed its Baltic neighbors, becoming the leading national investment promotion agency (IPA) in Central and Eastern Europe and the Baltics. Latvia's success in the report, which evaluates the effectiveness of the region's 23 IPAs, was driven by two key factors: 1. Validity of information 💡 2. Support and community building 🙌 🎯 LIAA offers detailed insights into Latvia's economy, key sectors, and investment incentives, making it the go-to destination for investors looking for the next big opportunity. 📊 The numbers back it up: foreign direct investments (FDI) in Latvia surged to €1.5 billion in 2023, up from €1.16 billion in 2022, with nearly 90% of that investment coming from the EU. Sweden leads the way, contributing almost one-third of Latvia's inward investments. Key sectors include professional and technical services, finance and insurance, real estate, and manufacturing. 💬 "This year's first place proves how committed we are here in Latvia to showcase our country to the global business community. LIAA follows classic FDI targets but also goes beyond CapEx and workplaces," said Raivis Bremsmits, Director General of LIAA. 💫 With 22 foreign offices, LIAA operates the most extensive global sales network in the Baltics - opening doors for investors worldwide. 🔔💫 Get ready to power the future - the Tech Tour European Hydrogen Valleys Investment Forum 2024 is just one day away!   🫧 From September 5 to 6, Riga, Latvia, will become the hot spot for investors and innovators - a place filled with collaboration and groundbreaking opportunities within the hydrogen sector.   💥 One of Latvia's most ambitious hydrogen initiatives is the CIS Liepaja project in the Port of Liepaja. This project seeks to develop a renewable energy complex, that will include a hydrogen production plant. The goal is to promote the provision of CO2-neutral energy for the EU internal market and position Latvia as a leader in the EU for hydrogen technology development.   💧 By 2030, the plan is to establish a 'Power to X' terminal with a capacity of around 1000 megawatts, expected to produce approximately 150,000 tons of hydrogen annually. The total investment in the project could reach up to one billion euros. Additionally, the project's implementation envisages the creation of at least 80-100 new jobs for highly skilled professionals.   ⚡ The production process is intended to use energy from anticipated wind parks in the Baltic Sea, with most of the hydrogen produced being exported to EU countries.   🤩 The future market for hydrogen is vast, and the European Hydrogen Valleys Investment Forum is your chance to be part of this revolution 🌀 https://lnkd.in/dpP_DQ_X Liepaja Special Economic Zone (LSEZ) | Hydrogen Europe | Clean Hydrogen Partnership | Latvian Hydrogen Association| H2Latvia | Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Latvia | Riga | Latvijas Investīciju un attīstības aģentūra - LIAA   #InvestinLatvia #EuropeanHydrogenValleys2024 #EHV24 #CleanEnergy #Innovation #missionLatvia

🌍🤝 From August 27th to 29th, Latvia had the honor of hosting Laith Altimime, President of the international microelectronics association SEMI Europe, and Cassandra Melvin, Senior Director of Business Development. Their visit marked a significant milestone in the journey to strengthen Latvia's microelectronics ecosystem and explore new avenues for collaboration. 🌟 This year, the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) became the first organization in the Baltic States to join SEMI, enhancing Latvia's presence on the global microelectronics stage and unlocking new collaboration and growth opportunities for Latvian companies and research institutions. 🔍 During the visit, SEMI representatives engaged with a wide range of Latvian stakeholders - officials from the Ekonomikas ministrija/ Ministry of Economics, LIAA, Rīgas Tehniskā universitāte (Riga Technical University), Latvijas Universitate, Ventspils University of Applied Sciences, and the Institute of Electronics and Computer Science. They also toured local companies, including HansaMatrix, OG Sense, and Lightspace Labs. 🔬 Additionally, the SEMI representatives explored the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia (ISSP UL), where valuable insights into the institute's operations and development strategy were shown. As the premier research center in the Baltics, LU CFI excels in delivering innovative industry solutions and conducting world-class research in materials science. 👩🎓👨🔬 The microelectronics sector is experiencing rapid growth but faces a significant talent shortage that could hinder its progress. To overcome this challenge, attracting and retaining skilled professionals is essential, which can be achieved by developing new educational programmes and raising public awareness of the industry. Strengthening collaboration between academia and industry is particularly vital in this effort. 🙌 Latvia's next opportunity to highlight its potential in this sector will be at Munich's "Electronica 2024" exhibition in November, where Latvian companies will participate alongside a national stand organized by LIAA. Concurrently, SEMI Europe's conference "SEMICON" will occur, providing participants, including representatives from globally recognized companies, the chance to connect with exhibition participants. #InvestinLatvia #SEMI #SEMIEurope #Semiconductors #Microelectronics #Innovation

The project involved an approximately 2.5 million euro investment and created 15 new workplaces. 💬 “We chose Riga after evaluating the impressive development of Riga Airport. The city’s well-educated, multilingual population, its role as a regional transfer hub, and the airport’s promising future, highlighted by ambitious projects like RB Rail AS | Rail Baltica and the 6th stage development plans for RIX Terminal, were also key factors. Latvia is a safe and stable place for growth, showing positive trends in passenger aviation development,” said Omer Alaettinoglu, Chairman of the Board of Kepler. 🛏️ The Kepler Club features 74 private sleeping cabins, combining hospitality with cutting-edge technologies. The hotel welcomed its first guests in July, with most users coming from the Baltics and Scandinavia. 🙏 Riga Airport, the largest air traffic hub in the Baltic States, continues to thrive.
