🛤 Raising the Bar for Family Office Governance 🏘 Our effort to raise the standard of family office governance made inroads this week via a partnership with Hong Kong Trustees' Association (HKTA) and Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute (HKSI Institute). A.D. Financial’s Principal Consultant and Group Managing Director, Alvin Yap does his part as one of the lecturers for HKTA’s Trust Training Certificate program, a core component leading to the Certified Trust Practitioner™ designation awarded by HKTA. With Alvin’s help, HKSI Institute members are improving their skills in integrating trusts into a family office’s asset holding structure. A.D. Last month, I very honoured to be invited by my good friends Tjahjadi Bunjamin and Prawidha Murti to speak at "Decoding Family Wealth & Business Succession". The half day seminar was jointly organised by Hiswara Bunjamin & Tandjung and A.D. Financial Group for 50 Indonesian Family Office Representetives. I was asked to be Herbert Smith Freehills Prolegis LLC's representative speaking on matters relating to #privatewealth, #trust and #succession from the context of #Indonesian family assets parked in Singapore - which are subject to #Singapore property laws and regulations. It was also great to meet the great minds from AD and the speakers!
Fifty Indonesian family office representatives discussed family office trends at a half-day seminar on Decoding Family Wealth and Business Succession, which we hosted together with A.D. Financial Group. Topics included trends in family office disputes, Indonesia’s upcoming trust law, and handling business succession issues, with speakers sharing family business case studies from around the region. The highlight was a panel discussion on generational succession with Indonesian family business leaders Bapak Kuncoro Wibowo, Ibu Shanti Poesposoetjipto, Bani M Mulia and Devin Widya Krisnadi. ✈ Our exciting Southeast Asian - European cultural exchange in generational wealth transition and family business! 🏹 Our recent visit to the University of Bergamo in Italy, led by A.D. Financial's Group Managing Director Alvin Yap, has been an eye-opening experience. In October, we partnered Taylor’s University’s International Family Enterprise Center to bring a delegation of family business leaders eager for our family development program to the alpine Lombardy city of Bergamo just 40 km from Milan, and home to a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Delegates benefited not only from east-west expert engagement on family enterprise solutions, but also enjoyed enriching cultural activities as a family retreat. We visited Kilometro Rosso, the heart of innovation in Lombardy, as well as Accademia Carrara, an art gallery and academy of fine arts renowned for its timeless artistic masterpieces. Thank you to the Federation of Manufacturer's Malaysia (FMM) Youth for inviting Mr. Alvin Yap to be on the panel of "Navigating the Legacy and Future" together with Dr. Feranita PhD, MRes, MBA and Ms. Heng Charng Yee during the ASEAN Manufacturing Youth Conference 2024 (AMYC 2024). Mr. Alvin shared with the delegates on the strategies for wealth preservation and transition to the next generation whilst making sure that wealth last for more than 3 generations. It was a great to hear fresh perspectives from the youth who are now in their family business and their views on passing on the baton to their generation. Once again, we at A.D.
