PETRONAS Innovation Garage (PING) recently hosted its inaugural Open Day at Petrosains in Suria KLCC, where five employee start-ups had the opportunity to showcase their solutions to corporate leaders, early-stage investors, and ecosystem builders. Thought leaders, government agencies and corporate visionaries gathered recently for the inaugural APAC Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Summit to discuss issues related to the event's theme, “Humanity Rebalanced”. Held at the Asia School of Business from 16 to 17 October, the summit emphasised the need for people-centric strategies that harmonise humanity and profit against the backdrop of shifting dynamics, technology advancements, workforce tensions and organisational priorities. PETRONAS, a proud sponsor of the summit, shared our perspectives on how diversity and inclusion play a critical role in business sustainability, especially in fostering creative thinking and innovation. In the lead-up to the 2024 United Nations Biodiversity Conference of the Parties in Columbia (COP16), we recently hosted a Nature and Biodiversity Dialogue for Business, in partnership with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES).   A key takeaway from the event was the urgent need for companies to evolve beyond business-as-usual and take immediate, meaningful steps to integrate biodiversity into their operations. This is essential to drive nature-positive actions and address the growing challenge of biodiversity loss.   Aligned with PETRONAS' “Thriving with Nature” approach, the Dialogue brought together 13 organisations from sectors including finance, property development, consumer goods, port operations, plantations, energy, and oil and gas. It provided an opportunity for the Malaysian private sector to contribute valuable input to the NRES ahead of COP16, and also offered insights on how a nature-positive strategy can foster business growth and innovation.   Building on this momentum, PETRONAS also hosted the ASEAN Business and Biodiversity Forum in early October, which was officiated by the Minister of NRES, YB Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad. We recently hosted our first Terengganu OGSE Partners Day, bringing together over 200 local industry players and stakeholders to share the latest offerings and collaborate on enhancing vendor capabilities to foster a more sustainable and resilient ecosystem. Held at Kelab Golf & Rekreasi PETRONAS in Kertih, the one-day event focused on rallying for action through sessions that explored key topics relevant to the oil and gas sector, as well as exhibition booths from government, industry associations, as well as financial institutions. Among the exhibitors present was Yayasan Pembangunan Usahawan Terengganu (YPU), which encouraged local vendors to sign up for the Anak Terengganu Certificate (ATC) to enhance their capabilities and engage actively in oil and gas activities, so that they can contribute to the nation’s economic growth.
