Cardiovascular diseases has been a huge burden & major health problem in Africa, with over 168 million people living with it and increasing rapidly over the past few years. We've seen our loved ones pass away due to heart related diseases like hypertension, asthma, diabetes, stroke as a result of limited access to physicians who lack resources to provide primary care and respond promptly and effectively to this burden. That is why Medtech Africa came up with this solution 𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐃𝐈𝐎, a platform that can help doctors access, track & monitor their patients health in real time using the data shared to them by their patients. We had the honor to partner with the Nigeria Cardiac Society to speak about our work around Cardiovascular health in Africa, and present our solution to cardiologists in Nigeria at the ongoing Annual Scientific Conference. It was very inspiring to see people take interest in the digitalization of the healthcare system and ready to take that bold step towards improving the healthcare system. We are taking over and breaking that barrier in cardiovascular health & telemedicine. The sky is the limit!!!👌🏾 #data #healthcare #people #health #event #africa #nigeria #society #doctors #medtech #ncs2022 #cardiovascularhealth

Desk job got you feeling stiff? Try these 5 simple stretches to relieve tension and improve your posture! 🙆♀️💼 These moves are perfect for quick breaks and can make a big difference over time: 1. Neck Stretch: Gently tilt your head to each side, holding for 15-30 seconds to release neck tension. 2. Shoulder Rolls: Roll your shoulders up, back, and down to ease upper back tightness. 3. Seated Spinal Twist: Sit up straight, place your right hand on your left knee, and twist gently, holding for 15 seconds on each side to keep your spine flexible. 4. Chest Opener: Interlace your fingers behind your back, open up your chest, and stretch forward to combat the forward hunch. 5. Seated Hamstring Stretch: Extend one leg out in front, reach toward your toes, and hold for 15 seconds on each side to stretch the lower body. Take a few minutes throughout your day to give these a try. Your body will thank you! 💪✨ #DeskJobRelief #StretchItOut #PostureCheck #WorkdayWellness #ForCardioApp

🌍 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐚𝐩𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 🌍 I want to share a story and shed light on an issue that has become my mission: the accessibility and usability of digital health tools in Nigeria. In many Nigerian communities, access to healthcare is already a challenge. When technology steps in, it promises more accessible, efficient care—but only if it’s done right. I remember speaking to a patient who travelled hours to reach a clinic, only to realize that many of the “digital health” services advertised were unusable for her. She didn’t have a smartphone with the latest features, and the app she tried using was filled with technical jargon and complex steps. She felt frustrated, defeated, and left out of the system meant to help her. This patient’s experience is not unique. Across Nigeria, many digital health products are poorly designed and inaccessible for the people they aim to serve. These apps and tools often lack basic user-centred design principles—simple navigation, clear language, and offline capabilities—that could make them more effective. Instead, these tools frequently serve urban, tech-savvy populations, leaving out those in rural areas without access to the latest devices. When digital health products fail to account for the realities on the ground, they create barriers rather than solutions. This leads to lower patient engagement, missed opportunities for preventive care, and widening health disparities. A well-designed app or tool should be as easy to use as a physical clinic is to access—welcoming, clear, and empowering for all users, regardless of their tech background or location. This experience fuels my passion for user-centred design and accessible digital health tools. I believe that by creating technology tailored to Nigeria’s diverse needs, we can empower patients and bridge critical gaps in healthcare. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this pressing issue. Have you or someone you know faced challenges with healthcare technology in Nigeria? How can we work together to create more inclusive, user-friendly digital health tools? Let’s share our insights and brainstorm solutions that truly make a difference. 📸 Article credit Be Accessible Inc Join the conversation and connect with me through #10dayslinkedinchallengebydocxplorer organized by Docxplorer. #10dayslinkedinchallengebydocxplorer #DigitalHealth #InclusiveDesign #HealthcareNigeria #TechForGood #LearningJourney #PatientCare

Two summits - One goal! Medtech Africa’s CEO, Nelson Igbiriki, attended the Africa HealthTech Summit and the HealthTech Hub Africa Policy Summit in Kigali. At the Africa HealthTech Summit, key players such as the Africa CDC, Ministers, innovators, health professionals, and investors explored how emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence can address Africa’s health challenges. Our CEO, as one of the two Nigerian healthtech founders, shared the innovators’ perspective during two days of sessions with Nigeria’s health regulatory leaders to help shape the HealthTech Hub Africa Blueprint strategies and develop a framework for healthtech regulation in Africa. For Medtech Africa, it was a great platform to showcase our open-source health data solutions and AI-powered platform, demonstrating our commitment to strengthening health systems, expanding diagnostics, and advancing universal health coverage. We look forward to building on the partnerships formed and driving impactful innovations for community health. #ath2024 #medtech #techinnovation #medtechinnovators #rwanda #nigtechstartup

Introducing the remarkable technology behind the Play4Health initiative! 🎉 Today, we’re excited to spotlight one of our standout features: Health Data Logs. Imagine having a powerful tool that captures the health journey of each student in real-time! Our Health Data Logs do just that, providing a comprehensive snapshot of vital health metrics that help us understand and support our students better. With this feature, we can easily log essential information such as: ● Height and Weight: Monitoring growth and calculating Body Mass Index (BMI) 📏⚖ (because we all know kids grow faster than weeds in spring!) ● Waist Circumference (WC): Assessing body fat distribution 📐 (and keeping an eye on those “extra snack” moments!) ● Blood Pressure (BP): Keeping an eye on cardiovascular health ❤ (especially after they discover the cafeteria’s mystery meat!) ● Pulse Rate: Understanding heart health 💓 (because we want their hearts racing from exercise, not from dodging homework!) ● Blood Sugar Levels: Tracking metabolic health 🩸 (because we all know that one cookie can lead to a sugar rush worthy of a superhero!) But it’s not just about numbers; it’s about empowering our students to lead healthier lives! By collecting this data, we can identify trends and patterns that inform personalized wellness strategies for each child. This means tailored exercise programs, nutritional guidance, and proactive health interventions that cater to their unique needs. Why It Matters ✨ These Health Data Logs are more than just records; they are a bridge to better health outcomes. They enable educators and health professionals to make informed decisions that can significantly impact students' well-being. The insights gained from this data help us create a supportive environment where every child can thrive—like a well-watered plant… or maybe a well-fed student who just discovered the joys of broccoli! 🥦 A Heartfelt Thank You ❤ We want to extend our deepest gratitude to our incredible sponsors who made the Play4Health project possible: Bridge for Billions Novartis Foundation University of Basel HealthTech Hub Africa Your support is invaluable in helping us make a positive difference in the lives of school children across Nigeria. Together, we are paving the way for a healthier future! 🌍✨ Stay tuned for more exciting updates as we continue to unveil the innovative features of our technology! #Play4Health #HealthDataLogs #StudentWellness #HealthySchools #EmpoweringYouth #DataDriven #NigeriaEducation #ThankYouSponsors
