Nuru Nigeria's project is strategically designed to build community resilience through targeted agribusiness interventions. Nuru Nigeria focuses on implementing activities that build the capacity of farmers to utilize climate-smart agricultural practices, recognizing their pivotal role in sustainable farming amidst the challenges posed by climate change. We utilize a structured approach by forming farmer organizations and working through them as a conduit for interventions, fostering social cohesion and community leadership through economic/production group-based intervention.
Nuru Nigeria is committed to enhancing the resilience of farmers to market system challenges by establishing strategic connections between farmers and key market actors, building their capacity to adapt to market shocks and disruptions. Through this collaborative effort, the Farmer Organizations optimize profitability, this community-led market systems development approach makes Nuru-implemented projects more sustained as the community actively drives the process, which increases ownership.
Financial inclusion is also a critical component of the project, with a deliberate effort to facilitate access to financial services for farmers. Recognizing the transformative impact of financial empowerment, this component seeks to provide farmers with access to safe, secure, and affordable financial services.
Nuru Nigeria incorporates a gender transformative approach in every component of its programming, we aim to overcome the root causes of inequality and discrimination by promoting sustainable and far-reaching social change that positively impacts women, men, girls, and boys alike. Our programs enhance the rights, resources, and representation of women in a trauma and conflict-sensitive manner.
