Celebrating World One Health Day: Protecting humans, animals, and the environment for a healthier world for all November 3rd marks One Health Day, an annual event that is dedicated to raising awareness of the relationship between humans, animals, and environmental health. Climate change and deforestation has been on the rise, so understanding the relationship has been more urgent than ever. When we tamper with ecosystems, we’re affecting our own health too. One Health’s approach this year is rooted on the idea that our wellbeing is linked to the health of animals and the environment around us. Zoonotic diseases like salmonella, rabies, E. Coli, etc. which is passed from animals to humans is an important reminder of how connected our health is. Protecting wildlife and natural habitats can help us reduce the risk of disease transmission and better biodiversity, which will ultimately benefit human health. One health Day was created to encourage collaboration among doctors, veterinarians, ecologists, and policymakers to address health challenges. From managing waste pollution, to promoting sustainable agriculture, every hand needs to be on deck. Individuals can also play an important role with simple actions like conserving water, reducing plastic use, and supporting animal welfare organizations. As we celebrate One Health Day, let’s remember that we all have a role to play globally. By embracing this mindset, we can create a healthier and stronger world for ourselves and future generations. Making choices that protects our planet, communities and ourselves.

Today is One Health Day. The health of humans, animals and ecosystems are closely interlinked. Changes in these relationships can increase the risk of new human and animal diseases developing and spreading. #OneHealth is an approach to optimize the health of humans, animals and ecosystems by integrating these fields, rather than keeping them separate The One Health approach is for everyone! No matter who you are, where you live, you have a role in it! https://bit.ly/40A3wa6
